Rom well into the 19th century to well into the 20th, trolleys were the method of choice for getting New Haveners where they needed to go. It was the end of an era, but with an asterisk a few years in the making. In 1945, the Branford Electric Railway Association was created, acquiring a half-mile portion of trolley line from East Haven to Branford in 1947. Establishing the Shore Line Trolley Museum.
