Working: Diligent
http://steveworks.blogspot.com/2014/05/diligent.html
A short history of where and when I worked.based very loosely on Studs Terkel's great work on a book of the same name. Tuesday, May 27, 2014. Diligent is not my middle name and here it is, May 27th in the year of 2014. Didn't I say I was going to write more often? Okay, I'm guilty. They hadn't been in their new office more than a month when I was called to visit them and help setup their labor control and estimating. I made my plans. Next time, I will write about a classy branch office.

Working: Catching up
http://steveworks.blogspot.com/2013/09/catching-up.html
A short history of where and when I worked.based very loosely on Studs Terkel's great work on a book of the same name. Monday, September 16, 2013. Yes, it has been a long time since I last posted here. But.I'm back for awhile. These events occurred 2 or 3 times a year and I would have to spend the week in Kansas, listening to the lectures and then taking the estimators out to dinner on the final evening; graduation. For an introvert with Asperger's, this part was hell! Most estimators, project managers a...

Working: Did I mention Seattle?
http://steveworks.blogspot.com/2015/02/did-i-mention-seattle.html
A short history of where and when I worked.based very loosely on Studs Terkel's great work on a book of the same name. Thursday, February 19, 2015. Did I mention Seattle? If I did, you will just have to suffer through another story about this office. But first, perhaps I will take a quick look back in this blog just to be sure.Nope! Finally it was decided to just ignore him as he was a successful estimator and they didn't want to lose him to a rival company. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Working: Feeling Good
http://steveworks.blogspot.com/2009/01/feeling-good.html
A short history of where and when I worked.based very loosely on Studs Terkel's great work on a book of the same name. Tuesday, January 27, 2009. When I reflected on my transition from one failing company to a new and promising company, I was awed by how easy it was. I lost one day of work that year. And I was going to be very busy for the foreseeable future! This branch office of PCI had been a small but very successful acoustical ceiling and flooring contractor in the region and now I was the newcomer ...

Working: Post 9/11
http://steveworks.blogspot.com/2014/08/post-911.html
A short history of where and when I worked.based very loosely on Studs Terkel's great work on a book of the same name. Saturday, August 16, 2014. Finally, I saw that I could not continue doing this if I wanted to keep my sanity. I declared that I wanted to retire. Laurae and I talked about it first and looked at our resources. Then I went to my boss and told him of my plans. I would retire at the end of the year, 2004. He said he was sorry to see me go but that he understood. Links To My Other Blogs.

Working: New Job
http://steveworks.blogspot.com/2009/01/new-job.html
A short history of where and when I worked.based very loosely on Studs Terkel's great work on a book of the same name. Thursday, January 22, 2009. Although the branch where I had been hired was part of large corporation, we were always a profit center on our own. We had to justify our existence with every job. And as I soon found out, corporate bean counters were quite efficient at putting a project under the microscope to see where the money was going. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Working: Later for Las Vegas
http://steveworks.blogspot.com/2009/01/later-for-las-vegas.html
A short history of where and when I worked.based very loosely on Studs Terkel's great work on a book of the same name. Sunday, January 04, 2009. Later for Las Vegas. I think I'll take a break from the Las Vegas stories and go back to some memories that came to me the other day. Working for your father is a tough job in itself, never mind the actual work. Psychologically, it's high drama. And I did that a few times; very few. So I worked harder. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Links To My Other Blogs.

Good Eats: After the loss…
http://eats65.blogspot.com/2009/06/after-loss.html
A collection of recipes and reviews.and whatever else I feel like putting here. Tuesday, June 30, 2009. After the loss…. Speaking of rebuilding, as I was… the blood bank recommends various foods to help rebuild the iron loss suffered when donating whole blood and on that list is liver. Which made me think; it had been a long time since we had enjoyed a good liver dinner. So I looked for a recipe and I think I found a real keeper! And with 4 pieces cooked, we have reruns for a meal later in the week.
