The Shrinking Knitter: October 2007

http://shrinkingknitter.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html

Reclaiming the fit, healthy body I once had. With a little knitting on the side. Friday, October 26, 2007. The spirit indeed is willing,. But the flesh is weak. I stayed dressed and ready to go, with the intention of leaving at the first hint of a let-up. The rain finally slacked off about 10:30. Again, the long-sleeved shirt was too warm. I was okay with long pants, though; I don't care to feel water splashing up on the back of my legs. And I tossed the hat slightly after the first mile. The...I missed ...

The Shrinking Knitter: January 2008

http://shrinkingknitter.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

Reclaiming the fit, healthy body I once had. With a little knitting on the side. Tuesday, January 29, 2008. Well, it's not all that. Cold out this morning, so I made a pot of coffee, dumped it in a carafe and ventured over here to the garage/office in the dark. Because there's really not much to do in the house at 6:30 am. There go my stats! I'll either take a picture while we're gone or as soon as we get home again. We've had this trip planned for a couple of months. Serendipitously, my dad, whom we...

The Shrinking Knitter: I only live here

http://shrinkingknitter.blogspot.com/2008/05/i-only-live-here.html

Reclaiming the fit, healthy body I once had. With a little knitting on the side. Wednesday, May 14, 2008. I only live here. I wasn't born in West Virginia, although my father was. That make me half a Mountaineer. After last night's presidential primary, I'd just as soon not admit it. My husband is a born-and-bred West Virginian, but believe me we are not. Your typical mountain mama and redneck hillbilly. More of them made it to the polls than we'd hoped. Um, not so much. I don't think he campaigned there...

The Shrinking Knitter: August 2007

http://shrinkingknitter.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html

Reclaiming the fit, healthy body I once had. With a little knitting on the side. Friday, August 31, 2007. Disappointment to a noble soul. Is what cold water means to burning metal;. It strengthens, tempers, intensifies,. But never destroys it. I was pretty wrecked yesterday, thinking about those two pounds gained after a good, solid week of consistent exercise and healthful eating. The average person would have lost something. I guess that means I'm above average, right? Links to this post. Yesterday's n...

A Dumbbell In A Home Gym. Year Three: Eyes on the Prize. Laquo; A Cut Above. Might as well make it official: I'm taking the rest of the year off from blogging. (Since I've only been updating about once a week anyhow, it's not like this is going to leave a glaring hole in the blog or anything. More than anything, I'm just giving myself permission to not feel guilty about my lack of updates for the next several days.). December 20, 2007 in Yackety Smackety. A Dumbbell In A Home Gym. Year Three: Eyes on the Prize. Laquo; What Happened? In The Thirties By 39: Nicole's Challenge. ». So you might remember that last year at this time, I was consumed with finding the perfect outfit to wear to my company's huge and fancy Christmas party. We hadn't gone to the party in a few years; the last time we'd gone I was so fat that none of the nice dresses I tried on at various stores fit me; blah blah blah . And then I saw this dress. They had a 12P (petite) and a 14. ...

Training for Half Mary-Thon: March 2007

http://halfmarython.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html

Training for Half Mary-Thon. I am a 55 year old woman training for my first half-marathon. The Colorado Colfax Marathon on May 20, 2007. Saturday, 24 March 2007. March 18 - 24. I ran 15.32 miles. I just spent about 5 minutes trying to 'strike through' the word "ONLY", as in I "ONLY" ran 15.32 miles this week. Today I "ONLY" ran 7.2 miles - see the above photo - it was pouring rain and 40 degrees. And, it was the most wonderful run I have had in a long time. The pockets of my windbreaker! My running shoes...

Snag a free knitting pattern! Mmmm Mmmm. Good. Have I got an ad for you. Saturday, June 27, 2015. History, right before our very eyes. I said in a Facebook post this morning that this week has been amazing, but not very graceful. Except that part on Friday afternoon when the President of the United States of America sang Amazing Grace. At Clementa Pinckney's funeral. (What a wonderful celebration of a life well-lived and too-soon-ended that was.). Man on the moon. Berlin wall coming down. This week has b...

Snag a free knitting pattern! Mmmm Mmmm. Good. Have I got an ad for you. Wednesday, June 17, 2015. It starts with food. The Food and Drug Administration said yesterday that the food industry has until 2018 to eliminate trans fats from food. The New York Times. Has a good wrap-up of the decision here. At least it was a good wrap-up, until this:. What if we find out, years from now, that saturated fat – found in butter, meat, cheese, eggs – wasn't the bad guy, but growth hormones, antibiotics, ...I'm not a...

Snag a free knitting pattern! Mmmm Mmmm. Good. Have I got an ad for you. Monday, July 6, 2015. Wow I had no idea. So it's been a while. Again. It gets easier and easier to let the blogging go. I suppose keeping up to date on Facebook is usurping blogging these days. It's certainly easier to post a captioned photo there than it is to string my thoughts together into several paragraphs. Sometimes easier is better. But not usually. At any rate, I've been busy or I would have been writing more often. Anyway,...

The Incredible Shrinking John's Blog. Just another WordPress.com weblog. January 7, 2011. Regardless of the wording or method to effect change, another thing is sure. Measurements must be a part of progress. My good friend and mentor, Dr. Neil Secrist always reminds me of this: “That which is measured improves”. Pretty simple, yes? As a matter of fact, it is, just that simple. It never ceases to amaze me that when I set goals it produces positive results. When I do not, nothing happens. November 9, 2010.

Shrinking Kat | My psychological weight loss experiment.

My psychological weight loss experiment. Favorite Side Balsamic Green Beans. April 8, 2015. We have a new favorite side dish. It’s so fresh and easy. It was inspired by this recipe. On MyFitnessPal’s blog. We followed the recipe the first time and it was good enough for us to keep playing with it. The pomegranate seeds were good but I didn’t feel that they added anything to the dish. Here’s what we came up with:. Warm up about a tablespoon of olive oil in a pan. Flip and add about 1/4 cup of water. 15 Di...

Changing One's Life. Something Has To Change. It’s taken 2-3 yrs to get back up to the weight I started at. Walking distances is a little painful. I can’t fit on slides while playing with my nephew. My energy on walks isn’t what it used to be. My lung capacity isn’t doing so hot. I’m breathing a little harder going up stairs. A Brand New Day. The theme of this blog is called Brand New Day, which is quite appropriate under the circumstances, I think! Today is July 10th, 2012. I’ve been looking forward to this day for at least the last 6 years. Why? Because today is the first day of my final weight loss journey. There have been many – Weight Watchers, Atkins, South Beach, blah blah blah. Tried them all, and yet I’m still fat. I’ll do my final pre-surgery weigh-in, pics, and measurements in the morning. I'm leaving this one up with directions to be invited to the new one. I will continue to check it. I hope that if you have my blog on your sidebar, you will leave this link up, so that any new people who happen by can get an invite to my new blog if they want one. Why private if I still want people to read? I'll explain on the new blog. :D. I hope to see you over there!
