Monday, 16 April 2012. Deep Resistance to Deep Green Resistance. Have had a really interesting fortnight in my head. I have for some time known about Derrick Jensen. Through his books "Endgame" but I innocently happened upon a tweet from Dark Optimism. About the film 2010 film End:Civ. Which features Jensen and the ideas generated by the Deep Green Resistance Movement. DGR) Their underlying philosophy is encapsulated by Lierre Keith. What am I to think about this? First came the Anonymous. It went on to ...

RadishBlog: Fair Trade Treasure
http://wwwradishblogger.blogspot.com/2013/01/fair-trade-treasure.html
Sunday, 27 January 2013. My last blog post was about corporate efforts to hide money and dodge tax. We all know about the Amazons and the Starbucks but there is another avoidance strategy which is about how goods - or more accurately, how the services related to goods are located around the world. Corporations brand, insure, distribute in house. By so doing they can then. Themselves for these services which they offer. Lost through corporate robbery makes current austerity measures a joke. So if anyone a...

RadishBlog: April 2011
http://wwwradishblogger.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Friday, 1 April 2011. I was involved in a discussion on Facebook with another radical bookshop. It got a bit heated and I began to create a longish tract which was far too up itself for the post. Undeterred I'm putting here - to get it out of my system. Although it assumes a particular reader, its contains points I nevertheless want to express. On first posts and the Green Party. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Home of RadishBlog. Radish: an indie green radical bookshop and fair trading post in Leeds.

RadishBlog: August 2011
http://wwwradishblogger.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 30 August 2011. English Riots: just a walk in the park? I think his name was Jeff Glynn. Jeff, if you’re out there I dedicate this piece to you in thanks for the memory. Absolute flabbergasted silence. What to do? Although no doubt the reasons stem from a cocktail of circumstances one thing is certain: if we get it wrong. if our interpretation is too surface then we are sure to get reactions that are equally extreme, equally mindless. ADDENDUM: Having written the above whilst on holiday and bein...

RadishBlog: July 2011
http://wwwradishblogger.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 13 July 2011. Are we really plundering the planet? Its 3 in the morning. What a time to explore an epiphany. Here goes. The answer to the question is well obviously.yes. It's not only oil that's getting harder to extract but now scarcity of rare earth metals is threatening to make our mobile phones and laptops more pricey. Bad news for green bloggers and twitterers everywhere. But hang on. The answer to the question is also. no. Mental note, not sure that stone is a mineral). It is as useless ...

All My “Misc” Stuff. Java, Bali and Singapore Pt.2. Tue 10th July, 2012. I’ve been incredibly slack and not posted this second part of the trip to Indonesia, even though it’s now over two years since we returned. As it’s been so long, I’ve forgotten most of the detail of what we did, so this is going to be brief and really just completion. Fantastic old Buddhist temple built on many levels surrounded by a plain. Java, Bali and Singapore – Pt.1. Mon 12th April, 2010. On arrival at Singapore, we had to pas...

All My “Misc” Stuff. Tue 10th July, 2012. I’ve been off blogging for a long time. Facebook seems adequate for most things and we’ve not done much that has been worth sharing with the world rather than just with friends. What have we done since Java in 2010? VMworld 2010 in San Francisco followed by a long weekend in Las Vegas, an holiday in Dahab in Egypt in 2011. Las Vegas again in 2011, and VMworld Europe 2011 in Copenhagen. Should anyone fancy seeing that. Java, Bali and Singapore Pt.2.
