Silicon Valley Lines: Layout Tour
http://www.siliconvalleylines.com/Tour/index.html
Layout Tour Club History. Silicon Valley Lines: Layout Tour. Silicon Valley Lines Model Railroad Club is the process of building a double deck HO scale layout. We are using a mixture of steel strut and plywood box construction and will eventually have more than 600' of mainline with plenty of opportunity for both mainline running and switching. Clever observers will note that the various areas of the layout (typically called blocks) are arranged in a somewhat alphabetical order. Layout at a Glance.
Silicon Valley Lines: Benchwork
http://www.siliconvalleylines.com/Benchwork/index.html
Some of our benchwork is a combination of a small number of modules from our earlier layout and a small amount of traditional wooden benchwork. Here you can see one of our members working on the lower level near where the mainline begins the climb toward the helix:. The vast majority of SVL, however, is built using a combination of steel strut and plywood box construction. Our club has developed a technique which combines prefabricated C-channel structural components with traditional wood construction.

railnerd: Building the 3-way turnout
http://railnerd.blogspot.com/2015/02/building-3-way-turnout.html
Ramblings about model railroad technology. February 7, 2015. Building the 3-way turnout. A productive modeler once told me: "Try to work on your railroad every day, even if it is only for a few minutes.". Taking that to heart, I decided to embark on the something I had been putting off for a few months: building the 3-way switch for the China Basin ferry dock. I started with a set of paper FastTracks templates ( http:/ www.handlaidtrack.com/Fast-Tracks-Printable-Track-Templates-s/11.htm. Bay Area PCR/SIG...

September 27, 2014. Got a chance to add a few more layers of weathering, touched up some of the metallic details, and took a couple of shots before packing it in for the night. I'm really happy with the way this is looking— next step will be detailing and adding the pilot house. September 15, 2014. The final...

railnerd: Weekend Update
http://railnerd.blogspot.com/2015/06/weekend-update.html
Ramblings about model railroad technology. June 29, 2015. Had some time over the weekend to continue working on the ferry dock. With all the turnouts built, it was now time to focus on the "easy" track. I've become quite fond of the FastTracks "plain old track" jig for making straight track— so it was time to try using it to make the straight section of the pier. I started by making a simple section, then adding my longer PCB ties to the newly constructed rigid track:. Robert's Vasona Branch Blog.

Tuesday, April 10, 2012. I'm hoping this will launch a discussion, but I'm personally astounded by the news about Instagram's $1 billion acquisition from Facebook. It's not that Facebook can't afford it, but that's precisely the point. They could have developed the same technology for their mobile app for a fraction of a fraction of the price. Why consider Instagram at all? Is that worth a $1 billion? My gut reaction is "Hell No! After reading up on it, my educated reaction is "Hell No! An application th...
