Together We Are Unlimited. With the combined superpowers of Students and Teacher, we my just take over the world. From the blog, but not from teaching. From the blog, but not from learning. From the blog, but not from reflecting. So I struggle with finding this new place, this new position as mommy merged with my old position of teacher. From the Brain of. Together We Are Unlimited: Hug Your Family
http://togetherweareunlimited.blogspot.com/2010/10/hug-your-family.html
Together We Are Unlimited. With the combined superpowers of Students and Teacher, we my just take over the world. I tend to add some comments to my homework to remind my students to share themselves. To acknowledge who is important in their lives and let them know. Show them. You know - before their big fifth graders and don't want to hug their moms and dads anymore. So yesterday I wrote "Hug your family.". Today, one of my students wrote it again on her own. From the Brain of. Subscribe in a reader.

Together We Are Unlimited: July 2010

Together We Are Unlimited. With the combined superpowers of Students and Teacher, we my just take over the world. Early in the year I read the book Ish by Peter Reynolds. I read this book many times throughout the year, but this first time is always my favorite. At our school, this book is usually introduced to the students long before I get them in fourth grade, but for some reason they are silent and spellbound when we pick it up for that first time. Me: How are you feeling about being a 5th grader?

Together We Are Unlimited: June 2010
http://togetherweareunlimited.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Together We Are Unlimited. With the combined superpowers of Students and Teacher, we my just take over the world. Minute to Win It. I had this one student whose body just didn't seem to get the memo. His head was shaking furiously, but not one part of his body was moving. We were all cheering him on, in hopes that our cheers would ignite movement in the parts of this body that would help complete the task. No luck. These are the moments that I love to share with them at the end of the year. As they would...

Together We Are Unlimited. With the combined superpowers of Students and Teacher, we my just take over the world. Let There Be Light! I arrived at school today an hour plus before I am due to pick up my students. I walked into my quad and immediately noticed that the emergency exit lights were on. "Hmm," I thought. Then, without giving my 7:15am brain a minute to process, I flipped the light switch up. "Hmm," I thought again. DownUpDownUpDownUp went the switch. Off, stayed the lights. I told them some ca...

Together We Are Unlimited: November 2009
http://togetherweareunlimited.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Together We Are Unlimited. With the combined superpowers of Students and Teacher, we my just take over the world. I was hoping that this week would be without any difficulty, without any abnormal events. We only had 2.5 days of school due to the holiday, so I was feeling as though my hopes were reasonable. Later in the day, the principal pulls me aside to tell me that the mom's explanation was that (and she quoted) "My girls like to force themselves to pass gas. Me: "Is that all? From the Brain of. And s...
