April 17, 2015. 8216;You like music, why don’t you try this’ and I thought it would be awesome! Sometimes a destination is never a place but a new way of looking at things. Ok So I’ve paraphrased Henry Miller. But its true isn’t it? This week two things have come together. A session organised by Goodmoney. The link is a helpful resource on some digital tools) and our evaluation report on Gig Buddies. People, to what can we do together. It’s that approach that provides a new way of looking at things.

‘Look mate you can like me on Facebook – what more do you want?’ | Simon's Blog

https://simonjchughes.wordpress.com/2013/06/22/look-mate-you-can-like-me-on-facebook-what-more-do-you-want

June 22, 2013. 8216;Look mate you can like me on Facebook – what more do you want? It’s a good point and one that lots of businesses are going to ask as super-fast broadband rolls out thanks to local councils and BDUK. Everyone wants better connectivity, or for some, connectivity full-stop. What if you are a small or medium-sized business? Will you watch more YouTube? Allow people to order on-line? When everyone has it, where is the competitive advantage? It just becomes a hygiene factor. I might –...

People care – don’t they? | Simon's Blog

https://simonjchughes.wordpress.com/2013/06/02/people-care-dont-they

June 2, 2013. People care – don’t they? People don’t care. They are too selfish, stupid and lazy to try to make a difference in their community. You might be forgiven for thinking that although local political decisions hit us where we live, impact our lives on a daily basis, we really don’t care. Recent elections in the County I work in had an average turnout of 33%. In 2009 it was around 45%. There is just apathy and uninterest. They don’t this. Notice of Retail Opportunity. Now are you interested?

Missing the point: The Guardian – ‘Councils embrace social media’ | Simon's Blog

https://simonjchughes.wordpress.com/2013/05/28/missing-the-point-the-guardian-councils-embrace-social-media

May 28, 2013. Missing the point: The Guardian – ‘Councils embrace social media’. I recently read this Guardian article. About a survey into Councils’ use of social media. As seems common these days it gets around to questioning the return on investment of social media activity. It approaches social media from the angle of customer contact. It identifies that the financial benefits are hard to justify. It’s not necessarily wrong – but it really misses an important point. And Made in Lambeth. You are comme...

Work/Life Device Scheme? – Paul Brewer

https://pdbrewer.wordpress.com/2013/02/16/worklife-device-scheme

About the digital future of public services. February 16, 2013. February 17, 2013. Devices coming out of your ears? I’m sure loads of people think the same. Why have I got a Blackberry *and* and iPhone jangling around in my pockets? Isn’t it both inconvenient and a serious waste of money and resources? And, what about tablet devices, like iPad? Or similar) – ok, that would start to save plenty of time. Staff would get a real feel for the possible too, and creativity would blossom. Then the question comes...

Simon Carne | architect planner and urban designer

Architect planner and urban designer. Retrofit and the RIBA President. The AJ Retrofit award should be a highlight of the architectural year. First it deals with the bread and butter of an architectural practice as well as the large scale projects. It is all about context, constraints and lasting solutions. This year the winners are no exceptions to these challenges and whilst they lack the really big projects of recent times, there is so much to learn from them. This entry was posted in Architecture.
