Wednesday, September 24, 2014. Baby Gear: Infant and Toddler Dental Hygiene. I like to think that I've spent more than my fair share of time in the dreaded dentist chair and I still don't have perfect teeth to show for it; partly because of genetics and partly because of my horrible weakness for sweetness! So I have always promised myself I would try my best to make sure my kids developed the right dental hygiene from an early stage! I was hesitant to try it because up until that point I had experienced ...

Monday, August 3, 2015. Toddler Gear: Potty Training Essentials. Potty training began quite early for us, and it wasn't intentional at all. I had been thoroughly warned by all moms that trying to start potty training too early could have dire effects {cue dramatic music} But my little girl had a mind of her own. Below I've listed all the gear we used on our potty training journey. 1] Potty training seat. Just before her first birthday, we were finally winning our war against diaper rash. In some ways the...

Friday, February 21, 2014. Surviving the winter with Cuddl Duds. Cuddl Duds long underwear. When I first started shopping for these, she was still wearing clothing in size 18m and no matter how hard I searched, I simply couldn't find any thermal clothing for her size. Everything I found was either in really tiny infant sizes or really larger toddler sizes. I guess the manufacturers believe that 18 month olds don't need to be warm? The silky touch version is by far the best, they are easy to clean and com...

Baby from above: The war against diaper rash
http://babyfromabove.blogspot.com/2013/08/the-war-against-diaper-rash.html
Wednesday, August 28, 2013. The war against diaper rash. When she was born, the hospital put her in Pampers Swaddlers diapers, which are pretty darn good diapers. We used these until her belly button healed up and then we switched to the Bum Genius cloth diapers. The great thing about Swaddlers is how soft they are, and they have a wetness indicator line that turns blue when the diaper is wet. This is an awesome feature for new moms who can't always tell when its time to change the diaper. This is a thic...

Tuesday, October 21, 2014. Super easy apple pie. I promised in my previous post that I would upload the pictures and details of my rushed attempt at an apple pie after our trip to the apple orchard. I didn't have time or ingredients to make my own pie crust so I decided to use the Pillsbury refrigerated crust and also used their Perfect Apple Pie. I started out by peeling and thinly slicing six apples. Is it sad to admit that I'm somewhat of an apple expert? Once I was done slicing them up, I placed them...

Sunday, December 7, 2014. Some of you might remember my post about Squeezurts reusable snack tubes. These tubes allowed me to create my own homemade frozen treat for my little one. However for one reason or the other, a few of my tubes started leaking and when I went to order new ones this what I saw on their website. The next day I took them out and offered one to my daughter. My first observation regarding these molds it that they are huge! You can see below, a side by side comparison with an Outshine.

Sunday, April 19, 2015. DIY projects: Minnie mouse birthday party! That I made for her last year. Her minnie mouse giant cupcake from her 2nd birthday. I considered making that again but I quickly snapped out of that thought. There was no way I would have the time to make that cake all over again with a party to plan. Instead I decided to keep it simple. Mickey and Minnie mouse ears. Mickey and Minnie mouse birthday banner. Minnie inspired dipped pretzels. 1] Mickey and Minnie mouse ears. For the minnie ...

Sunday, April 20, 2014. Minnie Mouse Giant Cupcake. I posted a few weeks about my decision to try using the Wilton giant cupcake pan again for my daughter's second birthday. My first attempt. I started by kneading and rolling the black fondant and then using a medium sized mug to cut out two circles which would be the ears. I placed toothpicks inside the ears so I could use those picks to attach the ears to the cake later. Then I put them in the fridge to harden. Later on I decided to make little cup cak...

Thursday, September 26, 2013. SqueeZurts reusable snack tubes. Because of my disappointment with the performance of the Little Green Pouch. I started looking out for other ways to serve my daughter yogurt, purees and smoothies on the go. Several parents recommended that I try store bought GoGurt which is a freezable yogurt tube made by Yoplait and it is marketed as being a healthy snack for kids. I posted previous about how I chose to avoid commercially flavored baby yogurt. I was however still envious o...

Sunday, August 10, 2014. Upgrading to the Contigo water bottle. When my daughter was 6months old, we introduced the Zoli straw sippy cup. Not too long after her second birthday, my daughter went out on a play date with a couple of her best buddies from daycare and I noticed that the one of the other moms had the Contigo water bottle. I was immediately impressed with it! Sunday, August 10, 2014. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I started this blog as a first time momma on a mission to document my experiences o...
