Journal: Summer Break Begins | Living and Learning

https://simplylivingandlearning.wordpress.com/2014/06/03/journal-summer-break-begins

Journal: Summer Break Begins. Today was laundry day. I do our laundry and most of my household chores on Monday so that I can focus on other funner things the rest of the week. I still have a few organization projects that I am working on but it has improved a lot the past two weeks. They are enjoying summer break. The older two start swim lessons tomorrow for the next two weeks. I took them to the waterpark at the YMCA last week and that was lots of fun. Our summer schedule seems to be going well. Sunsh...

It’s a lovely cool fall morning. Looks like the afternoons will be warm this week but with the cooler mornings it is nice balance. I steam cleaned the floors last week, happy dance! I got off schedule with my carpet cleaning over the summer and now I can start fresh again. It was a busy day yesterday so we all have some general house tidy to do this morning before we start our school day. On the Menu: Bierock Casserole, Chicken Tacos, Chili, BBQ Pork Sandwiches, Chicken and Noodles, Pizza. Keeping a good...

Annika’s 8th Birthday | Living and Learning

https://simplylivingandlearning.wordpress.com/2014/05/12/annikas-8th-birthday

Annika’s 8th Birthday. On April 8th Annika celebrated her 8th Birthday. My little girl is growing up so much. Here is what Annika likes at age 8: playing with friends and siblings, Webkinz. Handsewing her Webkinz clothing, knitting, crafting all sorts of things, making her room messy, animals, nature and various creepy crawlies, being silly, dreaming big, gymnastics, swimming, and living life to the fullest. We sure do love her bunches! She decorated the table. She really wanted this barbie. You are comm...

I taught myself to knit in 2006 and have been enjoying it ever since. I also have been fiddling around with sewing over the past few years. I enjoy these creative hobbies and love seeing my work on projects turn into something useful and/or beautiful. Some Great Links for Knitting, Crochet, and Sewing. Stockemer Family Fun: April 2012

http://stockemerfamilyfun.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Friday, April 20, 2012. We enjoyed some unusually warm weather in March, so we took advantage of our Botanica membership and spent some time there with Gianna and Amy. Claire, Melanie and Gianna. Making some music together! Amelia, ladybug tamer extraordinaire! We attempted (in vain) to get a picture of the three older girls. Melanie was trying to keep the sun out of her eyes. Which led Gianna to think she was supposed to hold her arm that way as well. Amelia is a bit of a rough one. Gently down the road!

Stockemer Family Fun: September 2012

http://stockemerfamilyfun.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html

Sunday, September 30, 2012. A Trip to the Fair. My parents kindly offered to treat the girls and I to a trip to the State Fair a few weeks ago, and the girls had a blast. The last time we went. Amelia kept creeping closer to get a look at what was being done to her beloved chickens. That girl loves her some poultry! Next were the requisite pig races. We of course chose to go on the hottest day of the fair (90 degrees and very sunny), so upon the suggestion of Matt's cousin, we stopped in the *air conditi...

Stockemer Family Fun: Apple Picking

http://stockemerfamilyfun.blogspot.com/2012/10/apple-picking.html

Tuesday, October 2, 2012. The girls and I went to a nearby apple orchard a couple weeks ago with my mother-in-law and my sister, Amber. After forgetting the camera when we went peach picking earlier in the summer and missing Amelia's first peach picking experience, and all the peach juice covered faces that went along with it, I was determined to get some pictures of our apple picking excursion. Searching out some good apples with Grams. Found a good one! You gotta give her credit for determination.

Stockemer Family Fun: October 2012

http://stockemerfamilyfun.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html

Wednesday, October 3, 2012. We've discovered something Amelia has inherited from me, and it isn't the tiny bits of curls that are starting to form in her hair. As a child I was often teased for the pouty lip I would stick out when things weren't going my way. Miss Amelia has recently unveiled her bottom lip can stick out just as far when something isn't to her liking. Group hug to try and cheer her up before daddy leaves for the day. That means you, Laura and Amber! Tuesday, October 2, 2012. Of course si...

Stockemer Family Fun: November 2011

Friday, November 4, 2011. Keeping It Real I. For the inaugural KIR post I present Claire's less than stellar behavioral choice of drawing on the walls with marker. Thankfully it was washable marker, but she still chose to draw on the wall in three different places nonetheless. Not cool. Not cool at all. Labels: Keeping It Real. Wednesday, November 2, 2011. This year for Halloween we finally executed a costume I've been wanting to do for a very. Long time - Mary Poppins! Melanie got to wear her costume to...

Stockemer Family Fun: October 2011

http://stockemerfamilyfun.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Sunday, October 30, 2011. Melanie's first field trip with school was to Botanica. The botanical gardens we are privileged to have here in town. Their teacher wanted the kids to get to see the Butterfly Garden since they had learned about caterpillars and butterflies recently and she wanted them to see it before that garden was closed for the season. A special children's themed garden also opened this past spring, which was a real treat for the kids. Here are a few pictures from the field trip. Getting a ...

Stockemer Family Fun: May 2013

http://stockemerfamilyfun.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html

Monday, May 20, 2013. Melanie's Dance Recital Videos. Here's the video Matt took of Melanie's dance recital. The theme of the recital was "Let's Go to the Movies", so each song was featured in film. Her ballet dance was to "Somewhere Out There" from Fievel: An American Tale. Her tap routine was to "Disco Inferno" from Saturday Night Fever. She had a lot of fun taking dance classes this year, so I'm guessing we'll be back at it again next school year as well. Tuesday, May 14, 2013. We then had several day...

Front Porch Ramblings

Daily Life in the Maine Woods. Thursday, December 27, 2012. Can't you hear them singing: " We Wish You a Merry Christmas. With hot, itchy sweaters layered over our Christmas clothes, we lined up to model our ugly sweaters so the voting could begin. Those that didn't wear a sweater (mostly the men-but Brad did wear one and opted out of the contest because he decided a pilly sweater just didn't qualify) got to vote for the "Ugliest Sweater". The question everyone asked was, "What's the criteria? From left ...

Simply Living A Life

Simply Living A Life. Tuesday, April 28, 2015. The end. Finis. If anyone reads this blog, I'm letting you know that I will be closing it soon. I've been in the process of pulling some things off to save in my personal archives, but it's done. Life is far from simple right now. But it's time to be done. People. Are. Ridiculous. Be your own authentic self, they exclaim. Just do it in a way that we approve of, they add. Well, fuck you. I'll be my own self, with or without your approval. Links to this post.

A little snow on the ground and really cold! Spending some time getting things organized this week. I enjoy doing this over Christmas break so we are all ready to go when we start school next week. So far I have conquered the kitchen, our school area, and the mail pile up. I need to tidy our bedroom clutter and my office desk, yikes! Simply Living Better

Wednesday, February 10, 2010. Contributors: Cari and Donna. Did you know that you don't actually have to BUY laundry detergent? Here are some recipes from one of our most creative and hard working contributors. There are quite a few ways to prepare homemade laundry detergent. Some like it wet, some like it dry, and front loaders work better with the wet. You can make it with ingredients geared toward sensitive skin, or you can use ingredients that are stronger for not so sensitive skin. 1 cup baking soda.
