Simply Southern in Arkansas

Simply Southern in Arkansas. Sunday, March 13, 2011. While spending this past Saturday morning clearing out an area of overgrowth I felt like I had to be having more fun than anyone in Fort Smith. I had always been so curious about this mysterious mound and now here I was! I can't wait to see what mysteries continue to unfold as the archaeological surveyors continue their work. Simply Southern in Arkansas: Cavanaugh Mound

http://www.simplysoutherninarkansas.blogspot.com/2010/03/cavanaugh-mound.html

Simply Southern in Arkansas. Friday, March 12, 2010. As an adult, I still stare in awe of the mounds when we pass by, which have now deteriorated in Cavanaugh. I was happy to read the news today that the area is being taken over by an archaeological company to study the preservation of the site. March 13, 2010 at 9:00 PM. I love your first topic. Great Job. Diamond Fire XRAY: Having Fun

http://diamondfirexray.blogspot.com/2014/02/having-fun.html

Sunday, February 23, 2014. When the weather is nice and I can work out in the garage, I just love to fix old pieces of furniture. We bought this piece at Savers and it was missing the board that opened and closed. You can see where the hinges were. I filled in where the hinges were and sanded and fixed a few other gouges, put two coats of primer and two coats of paint and two coats of Minwax which is a Polycrylic water based protective finish. We hope to get at least $100 for this in our booth.

Diamond Fire XRAY: May 2012

http://diamondfirexray.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html

Saturday, May 19, 2012. This picture is us on a paddle boat on Lake Carlton. Paddling was a lot harder than Dorinda thought it would be. It was when I quit and she had to provide the power to move us around. After our 30 minute ride we saw a young boy feeding the cat fish. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Wide Awake Cafe. Diamond Fire XRAY: Petit Jean State Park

http://diamondfirexray.blogspot.com/2014/05/petit-jean-state-park.html

Thursday, May 8, 2014. Petit Jean State Park. Yesterday we took a visit to Petit Jean State Park just outside Morrilton, Arkansas. This picture is from the Cedar Falls Overlook. On the eastern edge of the park is a great view of the Arkansas River as it moves to the east. This is a building built by the YMCA and was used as a headquarters for a summer camp the Y hosted. Notice the inverted triangle in the chimney. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Petit Jean State Park. The Wide Awake Cafe.

Diamond Fire XRAY: Ozone

http://diamondfirexray.blogspot.com/2015/02/ozone.html

Sunday, February 15, 2015. Saturday with the great weather we had, We drove up north of Clarksville to visit a few sights. Haw Creek Falls was closed and we didn't feel like wading across a creek to get to the falls. This is a one lane bridge built in 1931 across the Big Piney Creek located in Fort Douglas. The creek had plenty of water and looked rather like a river. I suppose this was the local school in Fort Douglas. It is next to the Ozark Highlands trail. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
