Sanding the Rails: August 2013
http://sandingtherails.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 6, 2013. Update From a Slacker. Man, have I been slacking about keeping up with this blog. I seriously doubt anyone really reads this blog anymore, but I do want to keep posting to it as a sort-of scrapbook. It is really neat to go back and read the old posts and remember what was going on in our lives back then. But even though I thoroughly enjoy that, I still keep dropping the ball. So here are some random updates. Today we bought Aaron football cleats. He needed a size 8! I guess that'...

Sanding the Rails: July 2012
http://sandingtherails.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 18, 2012. This evening, Sadie was showing me all her mosquito bites. Odd to think that last year, we didn't have to worry about mosquitoes because we had no rain. But that is not what this post is about. So, on with the story. After showing off her bites, she looked at me and said "hey mom, could there ever be a mosquito bite this big? Now, I am going to go read through more old posts :). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). One Word, One Rung, One Day. From Fat to Forty: January 2013.

Sanding the Rails: September 2012
http://sandingtherails.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 26, 2012. Conversations with Aaron.Sort of. I love it when I go check on my kids before I go to bed tonight. It is especially entertaining when the hallway light sort of wakes Aaron up. You see, when he is in that semi-sleep/semi-awake state, he tends to talk in his sleep. Last night, that happened. A: Where is she? M: Where is who? A: Sadie. She said.{garbled/mumbled stuff I couldn't understand}. M: She said what? M: Well maybe she got tired of waiting for you. Sadie hears the song ...

Sanding the Rails: January 2013
http://sandingtherails.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 17, 2013. I wonder if I will be able to sleep tonight. But this is my kid. My son. My baby boy (although if he knew I called him that, he wouldn't be happy). This makes me wonder how any parent ever gets through more serious surgeries, more serious diagnoses. I couldn't imagine having to worry about not only the reaction to anesthesia, but also worry about whether or not my kid will survive surgery, and then whether or not they would have any complications after surgery.

Sanding the Rails: November 2012
http://sandingtherails.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 25, 2012. Way Behind, So Here's A Lot of Thankfulness :). I missed A LOT of days. I got busy with my kids' activities, Thanksgiving prepping, and Black Friday prepping. So, here I will try to catch up. Day 19: Today I am thankful for Toby's family. He is who is he today because of them and because of the way he was raised. I know lots of other people help shape him as well, and to all of them, I am thankful. Day 21: I am thankful for all my teachers. I have always loved learning, and...

Sanding the Rails: Day 15
http://sandingtherails.blogspot.com/2012/11/day-15.html
Thursday, November 15, 2012. And he can't just sit around. He has to be doing something, all the time. So I have many wonderful projects that he has built for us and our families.bookcases, TV stands, doll houses. What an amazing guy :). He really is a blessing to me. God knows what He's doing. I need to trust in that more completely, and more often :). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). One Word, One Rung, One Day. From Fat to Forty: January 2013. A tale of two days. Thursday, February 9, 2012. When Will They Come For You? I am sure that most of you have heard or read the quote by Martin Niemoller. It is quoted in different ways/orders, but it goes something like this:. Perhaps we begin by forcing the Catholics to contracept. I realize that these mandates seem ridiculous right now. But 50 years ago, no one would ever have thought that the government would be able to force the Catholic church to offer contraception. What beliefs do you hold most dear?

Sanding the Rails: Conversation with Aaron
http://sandingtherails.blogspot.com/2013/02/conversation-with-aaron.html
Monday, February 4, 2013. A few days ago, Aaron and I were in the car and we had the following conversation:. A: "You know mom, now I like to sleep in on the weekends.". Keep in mind that this boy has not "slept in" past about 8:15 in his entire life). A: "Yeah. Does that mean I'm getting closer to being a teenager? I know he will be shaving and really sleeping in all too soon. For now, I want to savor these last few years (or maybe even just months, though I hope not) of him still being just a kid.
