The View From Here: September 2014
http://frogcreekchronicles.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
The View From Here. Monday, September 29, 2014. It's time for honest talk. There is an old story about a writer who goes to his teacher and says, “Teacher all the stories have already been told. There is no need for me to write. Everything that needs to be said has already been written.”. On Monday, August 11. I was sitting by the creek with my coffee cup at 9:00 am It was my day off and my bones were warmed through and through with all the blue sky morning sunshine of that day. It’s been nearly th...

The View From Here: Here's to the journey
http://frogcreekchronicles.blogspot.com/2015/06/heres-to-journey.html
The View From Here. Monday, June 22, 2015. Here's to the journey. Well, folks, I can sail. Yes I can. I raised my own mainsail and my own working jib and, as forecasted, headed out for my very first sail on my own sailboat June 16. It was a defining moment in my life. Granted I did have a consummate sailor friend on board who ensured my success by being there with good advice, but it was I, I Captain, who sailed the vessel. No word of a lie, the bracelet let go at noon on June 16. No date in history coul...

The View From Here: On fear and second thoughts
http://frogcreekchronicles.blogspot.com/2015/06/launch-date-stalled-by-fear-and-second.html
The View From Here. Monday, June 1, 2015. On fear and second thoughts. My sail boat still remains in my yard on a trailer, far from the wind and waves. The grass growing underneath the boat trailer, that I cannot reach with the lawnmower, grows tall and thick. I now lament each day that I watch it grow unfettered because it defines the one more day—and one more day again—that I am not on the water. That’s the worst thing about fear. It grows like a fungus and covers up all the good stuff. I...Before I st...

The View From Here: A boat name to sail on
http://frogcreekchronicles.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-boat-name-to-sail-on.html
The View From Here. Monday, May 18, 2015. A boat name to sail on. Since the moment I made the decision to buy my sailboat, I have dwelt a lot on what defines me as I sought out a name for it. I’ve brainstormed names, picked one, then another, and second-guessed them all. It’s nearly been a daily think tank for three and half months. However, I’ve made a final choice. Quite simply the best name ever. I am defined by all of it, but “Little Miss” isn’t the name I chose for my boat. But “Canadian Skye&...

The View From Here: July 2015
http://frogcreekchronicles.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
The View From Here. Monday, July 13, 2015. Life is an old family recipe. First of all, I wish I could say I invented the title of this column, but I did not. I opened the cover of the August edition of “O, The Oprah Magazine” and there it was in an “IKEA” ad. Sometimes my themes cook up that way, like instant potatoes, they grow into something really good from nothing more than flakes. Who knew one could have a touch of posttraumatic stress disorder after a rag doll affair in a sailboat. Yup uh huh.

The View From Here: Time out for other stuff in life
http://frogcreekchronicles.blogspot.com/2015/07/time-out-for-other-stuff-in-life.html
The View From Here. Wednesday, July 8, 2015. Time out for other stuff in life. Time out for other things in life. There’s a downside to throwing all of myself for months into a passionate hobby like sailing. Nothing else around here gets done. The grass grew eight inches, dust settled in thick layers on windowsills and end tables and reminded me of what an abandoned house must look like. While my sailboat is a shiny new penny the other three quarters of my life has toppled into the red flag district of n...

The View From Here: March 2015
http://frogcreekchronicles.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
The View From Here. Monday, March 30, 2015. My purse tells a story of its own. Do you remember what was in your grandmother’s purse? My Grandma’s purse smelled like “Juicy Fruit” gum and there always was at least a stick or two in there for the little kid I was at the time. I don’t chew the stuff today but if I catch the scent of Juicy Fruit wafting by it takes me way, way back. By comparison, my purse smells like the old moldy apple I found in the bottomless pit of the thing. However much to my chagrin ...

The View From Here: December 2014
http://frogcreekchronicles.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
The View From Here. Monday, December 29, 2014. Young at heart key in 2015. It never crossed my mind how much I would treasure peace and quiet until I looked across the room just now and realized the kitten was fast asleep. Asleep instead of tearing around the house strafing curtains and racing up the back of my reading chair only to launch itself into the bookcase. The kitten then “cat”-apulted into the bag after it’s toy, exploding all manner of red and green bows everywhere. I admit a small twinge of p...

The View From Here: October 2014
http://frogcreekchronicles.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
The View From Here. Monday, October 27, 2014. Another squirrel story for the books. When my dad found a smashed tomato in the bottom of his fishing boat I knew my latest war with the red squirrel would go public. I was helping Dad winterize the boat and everything was just fine until he held up that oozing remnant of tomato and said, “How did this get in here? I swallowed hard and did a fast analysis of what fib I could reply with. I don’t know. I dropped it while delivering tomatoes by boat to a neighbor.

What I learned from 2 parking tickets and a traffic accident. Just the other day, my husband and I got 2 parking tickets and we were in a traffic accident. All in one day! Our first reaction was to argue about whose fault it was to get the parking ticket on our street in front of our house. We were so distracted by the ticket and then the argument, that when my hubby dropped us off at the library just a few blocks away, he didn't even notice he had parked in front of a fire hydrant. We were rear ended.

The Sisterhood of Saint Olga Society
The Sisterhood of Saint Olga Society. Thursday, February 21, 2013. Here is what historian Vicki Leon had to say about our patron in her humorous book 4000 Years of Uppity Women. Russian history includes female rulers who were by turns brutal, bold, and bawdy - and sometimes all three. And that pretty much sums it up nicely. Sisterhood Of Salvation
Sunday, June 16, 2013. This is a post about the ramblings of my mind - welcome. Today is Father's Day. As the over-all sentiment is of joy and happiness, I realize that this can not be said for all. I know many men that will not be with their children today, some by their choices others because of the choices of others. It makes me sad on different levels. Today I am praying for the many Father's who desire to be with their children but can not. For God so loved. The world that he gave. Denver, CO 80230.
