Most people have some place they think of as where they are from. For me, that place is Central Street. Started in 2004, this project is a reverie that mixes recent photographic images with memories. It grew out of an assignment I gave my photography students that I always wanted to do myself. On a Small Farm in Africa. Sixth Street Photography Workshop. Site design by Sam Dunn.

As Artistic Director of Sixth Street Photography Workshop. I create and direct projects, which I photograph along with the group. The idea behind San Francisco by Night: Naked City 2, was to photograph in the footsteps of photographers Brassai (1930’s Paris) and Wee Gee (1940’s New York). These are some of my images made while out with the Workshop doing that. On a Small Farm in Africa. Sixth Street Photography Workshop. Site design by Sam Dunn.

My in-laws have a coffee and tea farm in Kenya, in the Murang’a Valley. I spent a week there in 1999. For Kikuyus, farms like this one are the center of family culture. They are home, where one can always return, whatever happens. On a Small Farm in Africa. Sixth Street Photography Workshop. Site design by Sam Dunn.
