MiG Writers: The Making of GILDED's Cover
http://migwriters.blogspot.com/2014/01/the-making-of-gildeds-cover.html
Tuesday, January 7, 2014. The Making of GILDED's Cover. I am so pleased to finally be sharing the cover of GILDED. With you. It's been a long time waiting, but I think the wait was well worth it. I have to say when I first saw this final cover I almost cried because it was so perfect and so beautiful. I really think it captures the feel and tone of GILDED. At first the design was more of the actual samjoko symbol that is found on the ancient Korean king's tombs as seen here:. Was born and raised in upsta...

MiG Writers: April 2013
http://migwriters.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 24, 2013. Whenever people ask me what they should do to become a writer, my first answer is write as often as they can and write what they love. My second answer is to read, read, read. You can discover a lot about a writer by what they read. I love asking other writers this question: What are your favorite books? And if they start mentioning some of my favorites it's as if we are connected in some way. I've completely died and gone to writer's heaven.". Why is it important to read?

MiG Writers: Critique Groups, Friendships and Upcoming Books From MiG Writers
http://migwriters.blogspot.com/2014/01/critique-groups-friendships-and.html
Wednesday, January 15, 2014. Critique Groups, Friendships and Upcoming Books From MiG Writers. I used to think that I didn't need a critique group, that I could just do it on my own. The thought of having someone else read my writing (other than the editor who would fall in love with my manuscript, of course) horrified me. No, I just wanted people to see my book when it was in bookstores. MiG Writers at SCBWI-NYC last year. And now I'm so looking forward to seeing some of their books come out this year!

Wednesday, August 28, 2013. My Love-Hate (Ok, Mostly Hate) Relationship With Rejections, Plus What I've Learned Along The Way - by Debbie Ridpath Ohi. I've been getting rejections for many years. They started with form letter rejections that came via snailmail. Even after I started making money with nonfiction sales, I still continued to receive rejections.not just for some of my nonfiction, but also for my fiction. MiG Writers: Being creative means being an addict
http://migwriters.blogspot.com/2014/02/being-creative-means-being-addict.html
Sunday, February 9, 2014. Being creative means being an addict. Phillip Seymour Hoffman and I were neighbors. We were both Rochestarians. His family lives next to my family. But the news of his death upset me for another reason. My brother died at age 34 due to heroin addiction. HE HAD BEEN HEROIN FREE FOR OVER A DECADE. But the damage heroin did to him IN HIS TWENTIES was everlastingly. It's not an "exception to the rule" example. People who become addicted to heroin and quit often. Die a decade later.

MiG Writers: November 2013
http://migwriters.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 20, 2013. Up For The Challenge. I’ve been working on my first young adult novel for the last three years. It’s been a huge personal and creative challenge and there’s been many times I’ve wondered why I’m doing this to myself. Yesterday, I was reminded. But then, from across the room, another student defended the idea. “It happens more than you think,” he said.*. Now If you’ll excuse me, I have a book to revise. Saturday, November 9, 2013. After I decide on an idea, one of the first t...
