How Photovoltaic Technology works. 78 solar panels on the roof of the Anacortes Middle School collect sun’s rays and convert them to direct current (DC) electricity. Solar panels and inverters were made in Washington. 4 inverters convert DC to alternating current (AC) electricity to match Puget Sound Energy’s (PSE) grid. Why it is Important. What You Can Do. Anacortes School District helps us off-load the equipment for our first solar installation at the middle school. Western Solar begins installation at Anacortes Middle School. Installation of solar panels. We installed 78 panels each rated at 240 watts. Representative Kristine Lytton performs the honors at Switch Throwing ceremony on Friday, September 27, 2013 for out initial installation at the Middle School. Electricity is flowing.according to Puget Sound Energy.
