The Face Shots Crew - Powder to the People. If you haven't tried an electric skateboard you should probably do yourself a favor and get on one. The one I'm riding below in Revy is an Altered off road model but it crapped out on me and the service from Altered was non-existent. I would have a look at what E-Glide offers as our new E-Glide GI boards with the lithium batteries are pretty damn sweet. Have a look here. For more comprehensive review. FAQ - Electrical Design Services
http://www.designitelectric.com/faq.html
How are gensets sized? This is a complicated question with many different answers and scenarios but we will go through a common scenario that we deal with on a regular basis. We have two 30HP, 3 phase, 480V pump jacks and a 6 kva distribution transformer feeding a lighting panel. We require a temporary genset. 1 Determine the total load in KW's or KVA. FLA for the 30HP motors is 40A. 40A x 480VAC = 19.2kw. 192kw 19.2kw (6kva * 0.8)= 43.2kw or 52kva. 432kw x 2 = 86.4kw. In this case a 100kw.

Thermo Electric Generation - TEG. A thermoelectric generator (TEG) ( www.globalte.com. Converts heat into electricity typically by burning natural gas or propane. It is a very useful tool in providing consistent DC power in remote applications. For the most part it provides more consistent power than solar but on the downside they are more expensive and do cost money to operate. We paralleled 2 - 5120 (120w) TEG's as those are available with a flame arrestor option. Global provided us with a few draw...

Circuit Breakers Vs Fused Terminals. When designing a control system this question always comes up, when should you use a circuit breaker and when should you use a fused terminal? This works great in a general purpose application but obviously in a classified area where an RTU panel may be located you will need to use all fused terminals. I believe the real benefit to using circuit breakers is that they are resettable so you do not need to keep many different sized spare fuses on hand.

Solar vs the Grid. In Alberta there seems to be a big push towards green alternatives. This is especially true in the oil patch with things like Carbon tax changes and incentives to using green technology. Are providing packaged solutions for chemical injection using solar and we design small solar setups to run various standalone equipment that would be costly to power otherwise (flare ignitor panels/ burner management systems).
