Living so close to the sea, Julia has a choice of beaches where she collects driftwood to use in her work. These coastal themed pieces are all unique and depict fishing and sailing boats, fish, fishing villages and mermaids. All the ceramic work is handmade with a stoneware clay. The popular sailing boats mounted onto driftwood can be personalised with a sail made from a map of your chosen area. For this and other enquiries please contact Julia directly.

Skellig Pottery is located alongside the Wild Atlantic Way and overlooking Ballinskelligs bay. It is inevitable, therefore, that Julia's work has a sense of the sea about it. She uses both a smooth stoneware and a grogged clay depending on the piece. With the grogged clay, she handbuilds decorative bowls and platters, often adding sand from the local beaches. She then uses hand made stamps to create texture into the clay, which, when fired, produces a lovely honey colour and sand like texture.

After graduating from the University of Ulster in Belfast with a BA (hons) in Art and Design, Julia relocated to the South West Kerry coast where she established Skellig Pottery. Julia draws inspiration from the surrounding seascapes and fishing villages of South West county Kerry where she is located. Skellig Rest Cottage is nestled in an elevated position on the Ring of Kerry overlooking Ballinskelligs Bay and the Skellig rocks; it is adjacent to Coomakista pass between the village of Waterville and Caherdaniel. We have an enviable location amidst spectacular scenery, flora and panoramic sea and mountain views. The Kerry Way walking trail is right at the end of our garden, one of the most scenic trails in Ireland, with Loher Stone Fort situated just below us.
