Smokeless Fire: October 2012
http://peterpatricklangella.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
A glimpse inside my life and writing by Peter Patrick Langella. Wednesday, October 24, 2012. I actually have a writing gig. It's for a growing hockey website called D3hockey.com. I'm going to do a bi-weekly column, and it's pretty cool because I can write about basically anything I want. Obviously it will pertain to hockey, but I'll get ideas as things come up during the season and just run with them. Should be fun. My first piece is up, and it serves as a bit of an intro:. Sunday, October 21, 2012.

http://peterpatricklangella.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
A glimpse inside my life and writing by Peter Patrick Langella. Monday, April 28, 2014. Apparently someone noticed this space visiting the land of unused, misfit blogs because I've been tagged to talk about my writing process by the always gracious and extremely talented Sheryl Scarborough. This game of writing process tag reached Sheryl from our friend and VCFA classmate and super-writer Ellar Cooper. Yes, I'm trying to make my process sound important by all-capsing, bolding, and italicizing. When I can...

Smokeless Fire: March 2013
http://peterpatricklangella.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
A glimpse inside my life and writing by Peter Patrick Langella. Tuesday, March 12, 2013. I love finding new books. The more I read, and the more I immerse myself in the world of writing and books, the more I realize how many books and authors I've never heard of. But it's an amazing problem to have. Later in the day, an unrelated conversation took a couple of sharp turns and landed on Tobias Wolff. One of my colleagues mentioned a book of Wolff's called Old School. Just Finished: A Study In Scarlet.

Book-Bound: September 2010

Two Writers. One Dream. Monday, September 20, 2010. Music and Writing and You. So I’m basically the antithesis of Nora when it comes to writing with music. I can’t do it. The lyrics screw with my head and seep into my prose, and if I’m writing to classical music or a scored soundtrack, the big moments invariably come at the wrong time and I have to replay certain parts and it just slows down my whole momentum. That having been said, though, music is one of the most integral parts of my writing process.

Two Writers. One Dream. Monday, August 30, 2010. That Thing You Dread. It’s such a common phenomenon that we’ve even got a name for it. Of course, not every writer has one, but I’m willing to bet that those folks are few and far between. My trunk novel—which I saw crumble into unpublishability before my very eyes as the joy of finishing it faded—was an eighteen-year-old’s attempt at emotional, literary Southern Gothic. And it was crap. My trunk novel actually has a place on my bookshelf. Once I resig...
