Cindy’s Story – Team Fremont/FFBC

Skip to Main Content. Cindy rode single speed bikes for fun, then later joined the Mission San Jose bike club in 9th grade. Coincidentally on this ride, she met the president of Team Fremont- Garry Birch. Garry asked if she wanted to join Team Fremont, and sure enough she said yes! Within her first year as a Category 4 rider, Cindy won the women’s age 15-16 Junior Points Series. In her second year of racing, Cindy won the Snelling. Skip to Main Content. The Fremont Freewheelers Cycling Club was founded in 1974. Soon after, members began to race in local competitions. The racing membership grew to almost 90 members, led by John Tarbutt, a local City police officer. John led daily training rides and introduced many athletes to bicycle racing. Skip to Main Content. 7/25/2015 – Two Race Team Members Climb Haleakala (Maui, Hawaii). After consulting with West Kurihara, a teammate who recently raced Cycle to the Sun. If we had better waterproof clothes from head to toe, the climb would be much easier. I was cold at 7000 feet while the thick clouds rained which gave poor visibility.
