Slices of the Honey-Do

Slices of the Honey-Do. Friday, May 13, 2011. Kitchen Upgrade - Part One Range Hood. We have been kicking around the idea of trying to update our kitchen lately, and finally got started. I like the wood stained cabinets, but with the dark granite countertops and dark tile floor things needed to be lightened up a bit.The plan is to add some light colored accents, while leaving the cabinets stained and glaze everything to tie it together. The kitchen as it was before any modifications. Here is the jig in u...

Slices of the Honey-Do: Halloween Activities

http://slicesofthehoneydo.blogspot.com/2010/10/halloween-activities.html

Slices of the Honey-Do. Wednesday, October 27, 2010. The Witch and her pets. While I was at it, I cut out some pumpkins, and a Jack-o-Lantern. They are also going to do a little party in the Cul-de-Sac, so I made some games for the kids to play. Jack-O-Lantern bean bag toss. All in all, not a bad project. I am sad that I am not going to be home for Halloween, but I look forward to the pictures on Julia's blog. Field and Flower Plant Company. October 27, 2010 at 7:10 PM. Slices of the Honey-Do: Dovetails

http://slicesofthehoneydo.blogspot.com/2010/09/dovetails.html

Slices of the Honey-Do. Wednesday, September 29, 2010. Overall, I am happy with the jig. The only thing that I am not crazy about, is the rounded corners. This is the first jig that I have used, so I don't know if that is standard, but I did not think it was. Actually, if you do half blinds you do not even see the rounded corners though. I slotted the drawer to have 1/2" plywood bottoms, and it tuned out pretty good. Here is the first one complete and unfinished. September 30, 2010 at 8:50 PM.

Slices of the Honey-Do: My Shop

http://slicesofthehoneydo.blogspot.com/2010/09/my-shop.html

Slices of the Honey-Do. Thursday, September 23, 2010. The shop when we bought the house. It was pretty much an outdoor attic space, and storage shed. But I had other plans. Here is a CAD model of what I wanted to start building. Yes I am that obsessive. Framed and bench structure mostly finished. Benchtop on and a coat of primer. The bench top is 3/4" solid pine panels, with 3/4" MDF underlayment. Dry Erase board for notes (mostly between me and Julia). Along with a pencil tray underneath. Julia the beau...

Slices of the Honey-Do: Family/Poker room

http://slicesofthehoneydo.blogspot.com/2010/09/familypoker-room.html

Slices of the Honey-Do. Saturday, September 25, 2010. Before we bought the house, the upstairs bonus was being used as an apartment for the previous owners daughter. It was pretty rough looking, and Julia wanted to make it into a family area to watch movies, play games, etc. Redone Poker or game room. New paint, lights, table. This corner actually had to be torn completely out when I found some moist drywall. I had to get on the roof, and install flashing as well (long story). Not that I really expect an...

Slices of The Big Mango | A taste of life in Bangkok

Slices of The Big Mango. A taste of life in Bangkok. An Ode to an Odour. November 10, 2015. And underlying it all, there’s a smell. An essence, if you will, of Bangkok writ for the olfactory. An odour, if you bottled it, that could be considered the perfume of Krupthep and, unstoppered, would instantly transport the sniffer to the City of Angels in all its mundane, gritty glory. I’m not talking about these. 8211; spiced roasted chickens on racks;. Skewers; the sour bite of. It is none of these. My first ...

Slices of the City

Slices of the City. We eat a lot of pizza. We talk about pizza a lot. Now we're keeping track! Know of a place we should try next? Sunday, November 29, 2009. 230 Ninth Avenue at 24th Street. Six 10" pizzas, a growler of beer, and two $7 bottles of sparkling water. Pizzas range from $13 (Margherita) to $20 (Nightly specials), Growlers of draft beers $25. AJ and I were in the city for a quick trip before Thanksgiving and finally decided on the relatively-new Co. In the West Village, and Saraghina. My favor...
