AFS: Hosting Iris: October 2010
http://afs-hosting-iris.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 14, 2010. That is surely a testament to the AFS program making what would seem a daunting trip away from one's 'home' into a fantastic journey. Back to our new reality and what a blast taking teenagers to their first Pumpkin Patch. It was so corny (ha-ha-ha)! Crooked River Gorge and railroad bridge. Those funny photo-ops.the Peanuts gang! AFS: Hosting Iris: Closing down the blog
http://afs-hosting-iris.blogspot.com/2011/02/closing-down-blog.html
Friday, February 18, 2011. Closing down the blog. Things are going well with hosting an AFS student but I decided to not add any more posts at this time. You can view Iris's blog by clicking on the blog list to the right to see how things are going from her prespective. Meanwhile we will be applying to host next year and are excited to hear Iris's family will be hosting a student in Finland next year as well. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Photo album of our year with Iris. The end of an adventure.

AFS: Hosting Iris: August 2010

Sunday, August 22, 2010. Beach walks with the dogs (we are dog sitting Violet). We have had people over, visited many local sites, gone to the valley twice and been to the beach numerous times. Iris really loved the beach once she could actually see it, yes- the sun came out! We went back to a beach we visited on the first day and she couldn't believe there were rocks and tide pools, totally obscured by the fog on our previous visit. It is really gorgeous here when the sun is shining. At the store we all...

AFS: Hosting Iris: September 2010
http://afs-hosting-iris.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 29, 2010. We celebrated Iris's birthday today! We are so fortunate in our small community to have such a strong commitment to exchange students from AFS and Rotary. I don't remember a single, exchange student from my high school days in San Diego and the school had 3x's the number of students than this one in Newport. Credit must be given to those who have organized and promoted these exchanges for many years! Kudos to you Evelyn and company. It surely helps and this village rocks!

Thursday, August 18, 2011. Another year.hosting Elisabetta. Iris says good-bye to Cory.she's getting a puppy upon her return to Finland! I am starting a new blog for hosting our 2011-12 student from Italy, Elisabetta. Iris returned to Finland where she has already started school for this year. She reports that her English speaking isn't quite as fluent after just a month even though she found speaking Finnish a bit challenging upon arriving back at home. Who would have thought? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
