The Slow Way home

The Slow Way home. Scotland to Gippsland via most places, travelling by bicycle and boat, with a few other methods of travel as they come along. Thursday, 22 July 2010. 4 rivers in 4 days. It was Friday the 9th of April when we got on the move again. We farewelled Britta in the morning before she left for work and Brendan after the 1st few km's of riding that he accompanied us on. We also had a stop at the post office to send our little computer home after it was very handy over the long winter. It was g...

The Slow Way home: Our German Family

http://slowwayhome.blogspot.com/2010/06/our-german-family.html

The Slow Way home. Scotland to Gippsland via most places, travelling by bicycle and boat, with a few other methods of travel as they come along. Tuesday, 1 June 2010. So with all the computer cock-ups, the photo card issues and having our brains on permafreeze for 4 months, somewhere along the way a blog entry was misplaced. It was of the thanking variety, the sort of thanks that come with the biggest hugs. We got to their place after thankfully leaving the retired english teacher, who for some reason ha...

The Slow Way home: March 2010

The Slow Way home. Scotland to Gippsland via most places, travelling by bicycle and boat, with a few other methods of travel as they come along. Monday, 15 March 2010. Denmark in the Wrong Direction. I awoke in our little camping hut on Wednesday, the 19. For a whole bloody day of head wind fun. Thinking back to our first full day in Denmark, I recall going past the hundreds of other cyclists on their organised tour, with their big smiles and fun and frivolity. I guess if the winds that were punishin...

The Slow Way home. Scotland to Gippsland via most places, travelling by bicycle and boat, with a few other methods of travel as they come along. Wednesday, 20 May 2009. Like the long and slow build up of the wet season, so to our journey is on the precipice of beginning, of breaking open and letting out some cool refrain. Ave been able to set ourselves up for the next 2 years of our lives with the help of Braemar Mountain Shop. All the electronics are fully. Charged, all the. So, thats it for now. Th...

The Slow Way home: River Days and Fairy Tales

The Slow Way home. Scotland to Gippsland via most places, travelling by bicycle and boat, with a few other methods of travel as they come along. Monday, 21 June 2010. River Days and Fairy Tales. I started the day with wet socks after the bike shed became a shallow pond after the last 2 days of rain, but the weather had turned for the better now, and even though not warm, at least it wasn't wet. We aren't planning on pre-booking any accommodation for now, but might find ourselves in trouble come mid May.

The Slow Way home: August 2009

http://slowwayhome.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

The Slow Way home. Scotland to Gippsland via most places, travelling by bicycle and boat, with a few other methods of travel as they come along. Sunday, 30 August 2009. Old North Road and coastal hills. But no bother to us. After the weather of the last 2 weeks, the country had dried out, and on the first night we were able to get a fire going in a pine forest for cooking and warmth, whilst out in the open the cold north wind howled through the night. It started off nicely enough, with dry conditions all...

Slow Waves

Released February 9, 2011. Describing their style as ‘Modernist Blues’, Slow Waves toy with tried and tested blues forms to create music that is simultaneously unique and nostalgic. Singer/songwriter Ryan Nicolussis voice evokes the dynamics of Nina Simone, and the snarl of Howlin’ Wolf. Reverting to the more grass-roots, community style of self-promotion, the band has been touring independently up and down the east coast of Australia for the past 18 months. Feeds for this album. London to Bangkok overland | a trip halfway around the planet

London to Bangkok overland. A trip halfway around the planet. What are we doing? Video clips (updated 08/08). August 28, 2007. Colourful Phi Phi Island. We’re now on the beautiful island of Phi Phi with its clear turquoise water, green cliffs and sandy beaches. As we’re nearing the end of our mammoth journey, the next few days are for relaxing and not doing much at all! So we got those, ate breakfast at a friendly home-cooked veg restaurant then had enough time to get on the Krabi coach. And shared the r...
