nikki morris: December 2008
http://nikki-morris.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 3 December 2008. Jester' 59.4cm x 42cm. Indian Ink on 60lb cartridge paper. Quite harsh and vigorous to portray. The shading of the form. I have a strange thing for Venetian. Masks at present, so I combined the two, baring the nakedness of the torso with the covering of the eyes for concealment, such honesty and vulnerability. With deliberate disguise. The history of the masks depict that they were used to originally enable 'fair trade' between the classes in C12 th. Duality, I know I do.

Tuesday, 3 November 2009. All change.is good! Acrylic on Bockingford 24cm x 30cm. Since the summer, much in my life has changed and after a long period of being unable to spend time in the studio, I finally got back in the saddle. After a review of the work I did leading up to the exhibition, it felt time to take a break from the deep and meaningful surrealist style for something a little more light hearted. Man The image for me is the start of an argument, the point where it turns from heated discussion. Its title aptly describes the shenanigans. Them, I can FEEL them, been on the receiving. End of those emotions and behaviour, and hopefully bring them to life again in my paintings. Of paintings being universally saleable. Maybe the penny has f...

Wednesday, 10 February 2010. Through the Looking Glass. Well since Christmas life has been busy, I have done stage props for a local dance school and had a crash of confidence and was seriously questioning what I am doing as an artist, and whether I should just give up completely.- Its not come to that.yet! Although I genuinely believe you wouldn't become an artist without it being something you can't help! My initial thought on. November seems a long way off, but I hope to produce more works than I need...
