ripples from rachel: May 2010

http://smallripples.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html

Life as a foster mom and nurse. in africa. We have permission to raise support! An update from each of us will come soon, but we are now in the process of fundraising! Thanks for being so invested in each of us as we prepare to spend a year in Uganda. We know we can't do it without you! Labels: all things africa. This is an email update I sent out a few days ago. If you didn't get it, here it is. :). Due to the expense and to changes in the logistics of doing it over in Uganda, we both declined attendanc...

Life as a foster mom and nurse. in africa. Mobilizes teams to glorify God among unreached peoples by initiating church-planting movements in partnership with local churches. In order to live in Uganda and work as a nurse it costs roughly $2000 per month, which includes ministry expenses, travel, living expenses, health insurance and 12% for administrative fees. I am abundantly blessed by those of you who are called to be a part of the work here by giving of your resources. Click on PIONEERS Missionary.

ripples from rachel: Right Now

http://smallripples.blogspot.com/2011/03/right-now.html

Life as a foster mom and nurse. in africa. Very accurately sums up my life right now. it's loud, chaotic, and I can't judge anyone's parenting skills based on my own. And.it's a good thing that there were adults in the house yesterday more extroverted than I am.I couldn't handle the chaos and had to leave for a few minutes and go take a shower, just so I could get a few minutes of relative peace and quiet. Life as a foster mom and nurse. in africa. I leave in 13 days and have been overwhelmingly blessed with love and support. I cannot even begin to describe how thankful I am for those of you who have joined my support team, emailed me and called me to tell me that you're praying for me and love me. Seriously.I have to be the best-cared-for person leaving to go overseas ever! I thank my God everyday for you. Labels: all things africa. July 28, 2010 at 7:57 AM. Wow, Uganda huh? That is really cool! I'm an RN...

Life as a foster mom and nurse. in africa. You know you're in Africa when. Life here is an adventure! I have spent nine of the last twelve days with either the medical team or the dental team doing rural clinics. The first five days I participated in the medical clinic and it was wonderful to be doing nursing again! The Lord truly has answered my prayers for being settled here! Last but not least, I had two opportunities to share Jesus this week! Thanks for your prayers and your emails! Someone says "hel...

People, Places, and Paratópera: my future in 4 paragraphs

http://paratopera.blogspot.com/2010/01/my-future-in-4-paragraphs.html

My future in 4 paragraphs. I’m off on another round of travels. These trips seem to come in groups, which I love, but which is also a bit stressful. As many of you know, in 2005 I spent 6 months living in Honduras as a house parent for 10 children whose parents either abused them or simply didn’t want them. That ministry ( the LAMB institute. I will be going back to Honduras on February 19th to see the dedication of a new chapel and to the show the video, but that will be a short trip of just 6 days.

People, Places, and Paratópera: July 2008

http://paratopera.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

In typical Mexican style, out 1:00 outing to Tepoztlan started by catching the 2:00 bus. Half an hour later, we found ourselves walking down perfect cobblestone streets in a perfect Spanish town. Tepoztlan is made up of seven barrios surrounded by seven mountains. In the middle sits the town square with a rustic monastery nestled in the north corner. I wonder if they take returns if you don’t use it all? Posted by Mandie Joy. Links to this post. 14 de julio, 2008. Phases of Promise and Covenant. Don&#821...

People, Places, and Paratópera: Slow Growin'

http://paratopera.blogspot.com/2009/08/slow-growin.html

I was listening to Tim Keller. The thing is we Christians have a catchphrase that would solve this dilemma for us if only we would understand what we are saying. We say Jesus is our “Savior and Lord” and we understand the “savior” part. Not to minimize in any way the agony of the cross; it’s just not the point I’m trying to make. Jesus died; we’re saved. Punto. Todd Simonis preached on this at St. Andrew’s a while back and gave the following illustration:. Jesus becoming our Savior took one. Slid from my...

People, Places, and Paratópera: Hospital Escuela, Honduras

Hospital Escuela, Honduras. I could probably give him about a teaspoon of Tylenol. No nurse had been in to see him for at least eight hours. His mother was hours away in a village working to pay for his treatments and no one wanted to waste time on a baby who offered no assurance of reimbursement. 8220; Did you bring my food. People, Places, and Paratópera: May 2010

http://paratopera.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html

The “leave and go” part of the story has always escaped my scrutiny until a few weeks ago when my grandpa and I were talking about it in Brazil. He mentioned that Abram’s father, Terah was the first to leave and go into new territory (v.31). It says that Terah took Abram. And went out of Ur to the land of Caanan. But, he stopped half way. Why? The writer records that Terah’s son, Haran. Posted by Mandie Joy. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Where in the world am I? Jan 22-Feb 6: Honduras.

The Starbucks Church Update. It has been a year since I first decided to step out of traditional church and spend my Sunday mornings with Jesus at Starbucks. Over that year, “church” has had to move out of Starbucks for financial reasons and has often happened on the beach or my back porch. Another surprising turn of events was a Sunday in October when I woke up. My life is but a weaving between my God and me,. I do not choose the colors. He’s working steadily. Posted by Mandie Joy.
