Library Hungry: June 2015
http://libraryhungry.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
What I'm reading.whether you like it or not. Thursday, June 18, 2015. Absolute Worst Case Scenarios. Psychologically speaking, this has been a weird month for me. I haven't read a single novel yet. Since you’re reading my book blog, you probably have an idea how weird this is. I will admit with chagrin that I’ve been reading lots of book-length fanfiction, but I’m not sure how to talk about that, so I’m going to skip it for now. There’s a good chance you’re familiar with his work from xkcd. A surprising ...

Library Hungry: A Beautiful Story of Big Ideas
http://libraryhungry.blogspot.com/2015/07/a-beautiful-story-of-big-ideas.html
What I'm reading.whether you like it or not. Tuesday, July 28, 2015. A Beautiful Story of Big Ideas. Have you read anything by Erin Bow? Really, have you read everything. You should go do that right now, because she keeps coming up with more amazing stuff. It's not just how she writes; it's what she chooses to write that makes her so amazing. Her second book, Sorrow's Knot. But still a very pleasing book. But now, now comes her next book, The Scorpion Rules. When you realize that this prevents wars (it i...

Library Hungry: Why No Post
http://libraryhungry.blogspot.com/2015/07/why-no-post.html
What I'm reading.whether you like it or not. Sunday, July 26, 2015. I was so determined to get back on the posting horse last week, and I was doing so well, and then I got all sucked into the last few episodes of Sense8. Because this is a show about community. And you know what most TV shows lack? Peripheral characters. I always thought it was cool that How I Met Your Mother. Friends didn't have any other friends. They try to learn about their connection and the dangerous people who know about it, while ...

Library Hungry: May 2015
http://libraryhungry.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
What I'm reading.whether you like it or not. Sunday, May 31, 2015. I'm gonna try to tell this one linearly, with my experience of the book. It's called The String Diaries. By Stephen Lloyd Jones, and I picked it up randomly from the library new release shelf. I didn't know anything about it, but the cover was kind of cool, and I liked the blurb. So, I checked it out. And started reading it- even more surprising, since checking a book out is a low bar, but starting to read it is a higher one. Okay, this w...

Library Hungry: January 2015
http://libraryhungry.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
What I'm reading.whether you like it or not. Tuesday, January 27, 2015. When I read Jamie Mason's first book, Three Graves Full. My response was wow, this is going to be a great writer; I can't wait. To read what she does next. I was SO excited to see her next book, Monday's Lie. When it showed up at Netgalley. And while it wasn't quite the masterpiece I was hoping for, I'm watching her get better and better, and it's a really fun ride. I mean, how is that secure? Is that how spying works? I love a book ...

Library Hungry: February 2015
http://libraryhungry.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
What I'm reading.whether you like it or not. Saturday, February 28, 2015. You probably want this Humble Bundle from Subterranean Press. Which I know because I do. Did. I bought it. If you don't know the deal with the Humble Bundle, it's basically a deal where you get a whole batch of stuff on a pay-what-you-want basis. If you pay more than the average, you get a whole bunch more books. And a collection called The Chronicles of Master Li and Number Ten Ox. And Aarti highly recommends. On the subject of wo...

Library Hungry: Scarlett Noir
http://libraryhungry.blogspot.com/2015/07/scarlett-noir.html
What I'm reading.whether you like it or not. Sunday, July 19, 2015. Okay, I said I'd be back and blogging more, and it's been a couple of weeks, but in my defense I was on vacation for one of them. Which always seems like a good time to blog, but then never is. But it does mean that I have a backlog of things to talk about (including a question about Game of Thrones. Today, let's talk about the awesome book that got me back into reading after about two months away from it entirely: Scarlett Undercover.

Library Hungry: November 2014
http://libraryhungry.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
What I'm reading.whether you like it or not. Sunday, November 30, 2014. Too much good reading leads to too little blogging. We'll start with what Mrs. Levitt (my fourth grade teacher) used to call a "Mustard Catch-Up Day." Here so here are a couple of weeks worth of reviews, quick and dirty. Wolf in White Van. It's one of those books that is composed mostly of little moments, but with just enough of a mystery to draw you onward. Lena Finkle's Magic Barrel. Texts from Jane Eyre. Is what I'm saying. Even t...

Library Hungry: March 2015
http://libraryhungry.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
What I'm reading.whether you like it or not. Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Lock In: Early Days. I'm on an incredible roll with "issue" books. Not just YA, either, but books that are just all about making you think about Big Subjects and the Meaning of Things. There are a few in the pipeline right now; the one I want to talk about here is John Scalzi's Lock In. Oh, here's another thing- I have no idea if Chris Shane is a man or a woman. The book is told in the first person; a threep has no gender. I'm ...Not b...

Library Hungry: Nimona!
http://libraryhungry.blogspot.com/2015/08/nimona.html
What I'm reading.whether you like it or not. Sunday, August 02, 2015. Quick shot, because I'm sure you've heard this before: read Nimona. Noelle Stevenson's comic is delightful and you should definitely read it. I'd never read her before; I gave Lumberjanes. A shot, but it just wasn't my thing. Fun and zippy, but a little too YA and punchy, like hanging out with pre-teens on a suger high. Which is what it was going for, and more power to it, but not for me. Nimona. This is what I love in a story. If ...
