In The Short Rows. Letters To The Editor. A Slice of Smihfield. Town may backpedal on trail. Smithfield could back out of Isle of Wight’s $7 million bike trail. The town of Smithfield is taking another look at whether or not it wants to support Isle of Wight’s proposed bike trail to Nike Park, said Smithfield Mayor Carter Williams. Williams said town officials plan to sit down with county officials and ask some hard questions. The town isn’t getting any answers from Isle of Wight, Williams said.
