INSANE SWINE BBQ: Harvard Fall Festival 2010 Recap
http://insaneswine.blogspot.com/2010/09/harvard-fall-festival-2010-recap.html
Monday, September 20, 2010. Harvard Fall Festival 2010 Recap. Here is my Harvard Fall Festival recap…. Suzanne and I split up the categories for the first time. I took the wings and sausage and she took the seafood and dessert. Everyone knows how much I hate cooking chicken wings, but I figured since organizers continuously torture us by including wings in grilling contest, I’d better learn how to cook them well. Getting 7. I doubt wings will ever go away. Sausage (in casing only…no fatties). The day of ...

INSANE SWINE BBQ: April 2010
http://insaneswine.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 2, 2010. Chicken Skin Problem Solved? I think the competition chicken skin issue is solved. Let me back up a little. Harvard 2008 - 20/35. Maine 2009 - 25/29. Harvard 2009 - 31/40. Snowshoe (wings) 2010 - 15/21. After a lot of trial and error over the last couple months, I'm finally happy with the chicken skin. I could tell you how I do it, but then I'd have to kill you. I can tell you that it doesn't involve squeeze butter or muffin pans. And definitely no skin scraping. Links to this post.

INSANE SWINE BBQ: June 2010

Friday, June 18, 2010. Merrimack Rock 'N Ribfest 2010. Here is my Merrimack Rock ‘N Ribfest recap…. Who says you can’t bake a pizza in a Weber Smokey Mountain? I was really confident in our pizza after having practiced it at home several times to get the right formula. Suzanne and I split the duties on this one…it was really a team effort. I’d do two small things differently next time, which I think may garner an even higher score. I’m scratching my head a bit with the flank steak. I’d say we deser...

INSANE SWINE BBQ: December 2010
http://insaneswine.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 22, 2010. Some moments to remember from this year in barbecue. Snowshoe: First Place Fatty. My first solo competition.not something I want to make a habit of. Damn it was a lot of work. But getting first place in fatty was a big thrill after getting fifth the previous year. I think I've got this fatty thing figured out. Peter's Pond: First Place Brisket. Harvard Fall Festival: RGC in Grilling. Frydays with the Mitchells. Whole Hog for Charity with Uncle Jed. NEBS Board of Directors.

INSANE SWINE BBQ: July 2011
http://insaneswine.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 25, 2011. Western Maine BBQ Festival. We arrived in Fryeburg, Maine later than we wanted to on Friday. I was rushing to get everything packed and we left the house around 2:30 rather than between 12:00 and 1:00 as we had planned. Of course, we hit much more traffic going north than we would have if we left earlier. Such is life in Massachusetts. Overall: Grand Champion - This was our first ever Grand Champion call. We came close last year at Harvard's grilling competition, but just misse...

INSANE SWINE BBQ: My Final Competition
http://insaneswine.blogspot.com/2010/08/my-final-competition.html
Wednesday, August 25, 2010. It's been great folks, but Harvard next month will be Insane Swine's final competition. That is, until next year. :). The Harvard Fall Festival was our first ever four-category competition, so that makes it a bit special to me. That was also the year it rained overnight Saturday and into Sunday, making our lives miserable while we waded around in the muck. Although my wife may disagree, it was still fun and I met a lot of great people at that contest. I was hooked.

INSANE SWINE BBQ: The First Time Nothing Sucked
http://insaneswine.blogspot.com/2011/08/first-time-nothing-sucked.html
Thursday, August 18, 2011. The First Time Nothing Sucked. The Mainely Grillin’ and Chillin’ competition in Eliot, ME is one of my favorite contests. I get a little sentimental when I think about our first ever barbecue call that happened at the inaugural MG&C. The call was 1. In pork, and walking up to get our award for the very first time was as great as everyone said it would be…multiplied by 100. Usually, I need to rearrange things several times to make everything fit in our Explorer and Civic. And if...

INSANE SWINE BBQ: February 2010
http://insaneswine.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 12, 2010. 3) Peter's Pond, Rockin' Ribfest, and other KCBS contests - They will be here before you know it! I usually only cook two butts for competitions, but I want to try something different this time which requires cooking three. Looks like another WSM will be needed in the near future!
