February meta-blogging - Jackdaws love my big sphinx of quartz. Feb 5th, 2013 12:17 am. Several people have suggested I move off LiveJournal because it has a negative prestige aura surrounding it and a lot of people are unwilling to read or link to LiveJournals. It might bring someone into disrepute or something, or even offend patients and destroy the therapeutic relationship. So things I need to know:. 1 What blogging platforms are good? And this is my current top contender for future blog name. If...

2009 in review - A lack of perspective
http://jonpin.livejournal.com/197879.html
Sun, Jan. 10th, 2010, 10:57 pm. Way back in 2003, over the last two weeks of the year, I wrote several one-paragraph essays. With no other options, I move into Mark's other rented house. I teach Non-Routine at After Hours and continue to teach Math Camp, then met some of the local people in the QB circuit and carpooled to Maryland for a tournament. I met Jen's mother and some other family members, and we made it "Facebook-official". Garfield invited me to interview. Then there were incred...Dr Abramson g...

I just looked back at some of the Mystery hunt archives and realized - Youlians Random Ramblings. Jan 8th, 2012 08:57 pm. I just looked back at some of the Mystery hunt archives and realized that this year's writing team has a hell of a high bar to meet. All three of the most recent hunts have been incredible. I hope next weekend's hunt is able to stack up. Best of luck to Codex (yay Kevin! 2012-01-09 08:33 pm (UTC). Thanks for the well-wishes. See you at the coin! 2012-01-10 06:17 am (UTC). rattlings: "if at first you don't succeed, stalk, stalk again."
http://endsandleavings.blogspot.com/2009/11/if-at-first-you-dont-succeed-stalk.html
Sunday, November 22, 2009. If at first you don't succeed, stalk, stalk again.". With the new Twilight movie out, the feminist blogosphere is once again abuzz with commentary. Most of the really salient sociological commentary on Bella and Edward's relationship has. Under the cultural studies microscope. Specifically, I'm interested in Sports Night. And The West Wing. The two flagship productions of liberal darling Aaron Sorkin. For doing things they would not blink twice if men did. Or I could talk a...

Joe Holbrook (1937-2010) - A lack of perspective
http://jonpin.livejournal.com/198165.html
Thu, Feb. 4th, 2010, 02:54 pm. Joseph Ivan Holbrook (2/2/1937 - 1/22/2010). This life keeps movin' on. You're gone away before too long. So tell your friends just how you feel. You better say it loud for the world to hear. Cause it's getting late, it's time to go. The paper moon is fading slow. But the night keeps moving on. And it takes you in and it brings you home. I'm certainly late to mentioning it, and I have a lot to say about what's been going on this week, but it all does start with two weeks ago.

Religion, Sets, and Politics: Political Affiliation and Scientific Knowledge Levels
http://religionsetspolitics.blogspot.com/2011/04/political-affiliation-and-scientific.html
Religion, Sets, and Politics. Joshua Zelinsky's blog on three things that you can't talk about in polite company: religion, politics and math. Saturday, April 2, 2011. Political Affiliation and Scientific Knowledge Levels. Previously on this blog, I've talked about differing intelligence levels and knowledge levels of different political groups. I've also decried the extreme anti-science and anti-intellectual views that have been articulated by conservative spokespersons. Second, right-wing leaders may u...

Religion, Sets, and Politics: Correlation coefficients as angles
http://religionsetspolitics.blogspot.com/2012/11/correlation-coefficients-as-angles.html
Religion, Sets, and Politics. Joshua Zelinsky's blog on three things that you can't talk about in polite company: religion, politics and math. Wednesday, November 28, 2012. Correlation coefficients as angles. Harry Altman has an interesting piece over at Less Wrong suggesting that it makes more sense to think of correlation coefficients as angles. December 27, 2012 at 11:08 AM. Sure, if youre used to thinking about dot products of vectors that way. My point was just to note that this is an inner prod...

Special Meals
http://monosyllables-no-more.blogspot.com/2010/07/special-meals.html
A CONTRADICTION UNTO ITSELF. Wednesday, 7 July 2010. There are always those few people who order special meals on aeroplanes. When you see those meals coming you wonder at what makes the meals special? If you don’t get one next time, maybe it’s an indication that you’re a Commi. Yes, I only ever blog when I’m moving at speeds greater than 500 km/h. Go figure. In the long run, though, strawberries always lose to the phalanx of raisins. 7 July 2010 at 14:40. 9 July 2010 at 15:42. Places I've Made Toast.
