The Concept... ~ The Readers' Suite
http://readerssuite.blogspot.com/p/concept.html
I sometimes write short stories, which are most often published in Bookends, the literary pages of the Jamaica Observer. Over time, I've recognized that we lack book clubs in Jamaica and I told the editor I'd do an article, but never did. It's something I still think about and I actually started researching the subject. I must get back to it when time allows. Meantime, I'm opening this page to keep track of what I've read and to make sure that I don't slack off with my reading. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The Come Up ... Compelling, Poignant, and Satisfying. ~ The Readers' Suite
http://readerssuite.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-come-up-compelling-poignant-and.html
Saturday, July 11, 2015. The Come Up . Compelling, Poignant, and Satisfying. So now that I've dried my eyes and reabsorbed this story a little bit, it's time to put down my thoughts. I first read The Come Up. A month or so ago and then picked it up again last week to refresh my memory before writing the review. One thing led to another and before I knew it, I was deep inside the story again, which surprised me because I can't remember when was the last time I re-read a book. For me, these two lead charac...

She tries to avoid Devin, because of their aborted relationship, but he has other plans. As far as he's concerned, Vivian isn't getting away without telling him why she broke things off without an explanation. This is my first read from Sheryl Lister and I know it won't be my last. A Painful But Uplifting Read ~ The Readers' Suite
http://readerssuite.blogspot.com/2015/03/a-painful-but-uplifting-read.html
Saturday, March 7, 2015. A Painful But Uplifting Read. In a sense, Valerie is a victim but she's far from being a shrinking violet. She takes on her bullies and is proactive in seeking to identify the man who raped her. Sharif has created a realistic teenager, who is isolated by bad choices but courageous in the face of violation. At several points in the book, I was in tears because of Valerie's suffering but this girl is a fighter and handles her business. Source: I purchased 52 Likes from Smashwords.

Should Authors Comment on Reviews? ~ The Readers' Suite
http://readerssuite.blogspot.com/2012/04/normal-0-false-false-false-en-carribean.html
Friday, April 20, 2012. Should Authors Comment on Reviews? Posed an interesting question—Should authors comment on reviews? This subject interests me particularly because I write, as well as review. If a writer asks me to review their book, then I expect they’ll come by at some point and say thanks on the blog or do so privately. Either is fine with me, and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with this practice. What’s your take? Should writers comment on reviews of their books? April 20, 2012 at 5:00 AM.

One Delicate Night by Joy Avery ~ The Readers' Suite
http://readerssuite.blogspot.com/2015/07/one-delicate-night-by-joy-avery.html
Saturday, July 18, 2015. One Delicate Night by Joy Avery. Joy Avery's One Delicate Night provided a great reading experience. Let's say I've never understood the concept of a one-night stand, but I set out on an adventure with the female lead, Kassidy Monroe, who was after just one delicate night, as she put it. I enjoyed Ms. Avery's writing style and have no doubt I'll read her other books. Loved the cover on this book! One Delicate Night on Amazon. Posted by J.L. Campbell. Free Download @ Amazon. Is an...
