Redagogue: Settling in
http://redagogue.blogspot.com/2011/10/settling-in.html
Thoughts of a pedagogue gone red.from Manhattan to Moscow to Belgrade to Saigon. Wednesday, October 19, 2011. The rainy season. Think you know rain? It buckets down here every day, but it's fantastic monsoony rain- the wet whipping around and cracking lightening and palm leaves the size of SUVs flailing and then crashing down in the upset. Drina and I wade through puddles in my rutted half-paved. Have you been to Southeast Asia? They wear huge heavy sweatshirts with the hoods up and face masks that cover...

Thoughts of a pedagogue gone red.from Manhattan to Moscow to Belgrade to Saigon. Wednesday, January 09, 2008. SoI'm back from two and a half weeks trekking around part of Northern India with Karne. If I had my druthers I'd be there still, soaking up color and sunshine and hand sanitizer until the cows came home (bad pun, sorry). We went with Intrepid. A company that practices "socially responsible tourism," which means t. We started off in Delhi. Bbie got lost. B. Sly on a (that's one) sheetless bed....

Thoughts of a pedagogue gone red.from Manhattan to Moscow to Belgrade to Saigon. Monday, July 25, 2011. I sorta skipped Belgrade- don't know how or why that happened but it's too late to go back and recap now. In a nutshell? Three years, great city and friends, Obama, dog acquisition, honey festivals, writing group, travel galore. What more do you need? On a scale of one to strange, I must say that the experience of getting to Saigon with Drina pretty much topped out. On Friday after we arrived in. Mosco...

Thoughts of a pedagogue gone red.from Manhattan to Moscow to Belgrade to Saigon. Sunday, August 21, 2011. I'm hardly an expert, but here we go. Oh my god, you HAVE TO! Grotty nightclubs (like the distasteful Go2 bar and club or "Appo," Apocalypse Now), which are gross but sort of great, karaoke spots with private rooms and complimentary tambourines, crappy expat pubs that have quiz nights, chic tapas bars and booze boats. Một hai ba, yo! Links to this post. Sunday, August 14, 2011. Incredibly kind althou...

Thoughts of a pedagogue gone red.from Manhattan to Moscow to Belgrade to Saigon. Saturday, September 03, 2011. How not to use the toilet. Last night I had a bizarre dream, possibly prompted by this sign, which was posted in the bathroom of the posh restaurant where I had dinner. In this dream I was teaching a class about English phraseology, based on the word "shit." Or perhaps I was writing a phrasebook about uses of the word "shit"? At any rate, snatches of it remain in my memory, and here they are.

Redagogue: Saigon--First Impressions
http://redagogue.blogspot.com/2011/08/saigon-first-impressions.html
Thoughts of a pedagogue gone red.from Manhattan to Moscow to Belgrade to Saigon. Sunday, August 14, 2011. The school is built so that it is both indoor and outdoors, with several covered spaces that have no walls. The students run around in blue and white uniforms (I didn't know! Incredibly kind although I don't think we will impose. Besides, Drina likes to chase the chickens on the street when we go wandering around collecting phone numbers of "villa"s to rent.
