Why Ogi Ogas and Sai Gaddam Are Phrenologists - neededalj
http://neededalj.livejournal.com/940.html
Why Ogi Ogas and Sai Gaddam Are Phrenologists. September 2nd, 2009. Why Ogi Ogas and Sai Gaddam Are Phrenologists. Although I believe it would be edifying for our two favorite 'cognitive neuroscientists' to read this essay, they are not my audience. Rather, I write to fandom, to hopefully shed some light on why these two wankers think they have scientific validity, and why they in fact do not. Sabrina il wrote a fantastic essay. Simply put, phrenology. This is not in fact true. While it was still in vogu...

Where are the aphorisms of Anórien? - Constructive Criticism of LOTR Fanfiction
http://lotrfic-crit.livejournal.com/21288.html
Where are the aphorisms of Anórien? At September 12th, 2007 (08:35 pm). This is based upon an original post in my own journal, but much enriched (and expanded) by the comments I received to it. In order to find a debate on the use of the passive so as to comment on. S fascinating post which draws an extended and subtle analogy between Integrated Pest Management (for gardeners) and editing one's literary works*, I visited. Where, serendipity coming to the fore again, I happened across. I have a horrid sus...

Anglo-Saxon Paganism - Old English Community
http://old-english.livejournal.com/51988.html
I'm looking for good sources on Anglo-Saxon Paganism. Something exploring historical record, archaeology, and surviving modern practices. Thanks in advance! ETA: Can anyone tell me if this page. Is at all worth my time? It seems to have some decent info, but I don't know how much stock to put in their interpretations. May 28th, 2012 05:45 am (UTC). Startlingly, even in what might be though of as the depths of England, there are more surviving Celtic practices than Anglo-Saxon pagan ones. Thanks. I fi...

Learning Old English - Old English Community
http://old-english.livejournal.com/50593.html
I've been wondering recently how people learn Old English. I know that it's part of an English degree but what other ways are common? How did you learn? What text(s) did you use? What websites were useful? September 26th, 2010 05:28 am (UTC). I'm attempting to fumble my way through learning Old English. I haven't been overly successful, though I can read and understand quite a bit more than I could before I started, so I guess that's some success. I've been using U of C's website. Performance of epics etc. - Old English Community
http://old-english.livejournal.com/50875.html
Performance of epics etc. Dear fellow Anglo-Saxonist aficionados,. Could anyone advise me on some reading about how poetry was actually performed, i.e. the surrounding, the context, the location (obviously this is the mead-hall), especially the food and drink and the kinds of social and magical rituals that may have accompanied it. Many thanks! December 23rd, 2010 03:26 pm (UTC). The main ritual seems to have been telling people to shut up and listen (the notorious "Hwaet! The comments I was thinking of:...

Pronunciation Question - Old English Community
http://old-english.livejournal.com/52791.html
Knock knock* Anyone in here? Im trying to get back into my Old English, this time with proper and correct pronunciations and the aspirated H and the whole nine yards, but now Im wondering, is the Anglo-Saxon R flipped or trilled? All Ive seen is pronounce it like a modern English R and that sounds so off to my German-conditioned ear. If someone could confirm the correct pronunciation, Id be much obliged. Numerical systems - Anthropologist Community

Anthropology in the News. The American Anthropological Association. National register of historic places. Does anyone know of any good articles on different ways to understand numbers in different cultures, preferably from isi web of knowledge? I've found a few books, but it's going to take some time to get hold of them at the uni library. 10th-Nov-2011 04:16 pm (UTC). I can't vouch for the strength of research, but a couple of quick hits using "numbering systems of the world" as my google search:.

Today I had to give a short summary of an event that occurred in… - the ravurian cantos

Feb 16th, 2015. Today I had to give a short summary of an event that occurred in September, just as term was starting, on the day that the new chief exec for our major project started. This is what I came up with:. Apparently I'm still a bit cross about this. 10 comments Leave a comment. Feb 17th, 2015 02:33 am (UTC). You are fucking KIDDING me. Feb 17th, 2015 11:27 am (UTC).
