Adventures of a Blue Water Cruiser. Sol purpose is a 1994 Caliber 40 hull number #66. She was purchased in August 2010 in Beaufort, North Carolina and sailed to Kemah, Texas in 16 days. She is a cutter rigged sloop with a removable inner forestay. The George and Michael McCreary designed Caliber 40 entered the cruising boat scene in 1991 from their plant in Clearwater, Florida. It was the next incarnation of their 38 with extended stern and swim platform. The boats specifications are:. Displ 21,600 lbs.
