Murray Market Gardens: August 2013

Sunday, August 18, 2013. Of course, it takes the rest of the week to water, weed, and harvest. This is no easy task. Every time we move vegetables from one place to another, we risk damaging them. And we only want to bring gorgeous food to market. Eggplant, Cukes, Heirloom Tomatoes. We don't mind bringing some extra home though! That is what we eat all summer and fall. I've always believed we should eat our own produce first. The Boys selling veg. Heirloom Tomatoes, Armenian Cucumbers.

Monday, April 29, 2013. First peas of the year. When the sun decides to shine over the Salt Lake Valley, it comes on full strength. It is still amazing to me how quickly we go from beanies and sweatshirts to sun hats and tank tops. The peas are happy to see the sun and grow so quickly now. Hopefully it doesn't get too hot too fast! These early season crops prefer some mild temperatures. Over 100 peas just emerging. Overwintered beets and carrots. Tuesday, April 16, 2013. Murray Market Gardens: Autumn: Preserving the Harvest
http://www.murraymarketgardens.com/2013/12/autumn-preserving-harvest.html
Friday, December 13, 2013. Autumn: Preserving the Harvest. Every year we strive to save as much of our garden produce as we can. There is nothing worse for me than spending $2 for one sad looking mexican zucchini in January. In August we can't eat them fast enough and forget how much we miss them in the winter. A large part of our winter preservation has always gone to dehydrating our peppers, herbs, garlic and more to use as flavoring in our winter soups and stews. We also bought a bunch of habaneros fr...
