Salida del Sol: June 2011
http://solclimbs.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 7, 2011. East Face of Bridge Creek Wall. Earlier this spring Jens Holsten and myself made an attempt on the East Face of Bridge Creek Wall. For the past couple of seasons we've been looking to BCW to serve up adventure, and it always seems to deliver. Jens Holsten getting psyched to free the Nose Route, October 2010:. http://solclimbs.blogspot.com/2014/05/ulrichs-couloir-mt-stuart-skisplitboard.html
Thursday, May 8, 2014. Ulrich's Couloir - Mt Stuart - Ski/Splitboard Descent. I had the great pleasure of making a recent splitboard descent of Ulrich's Couloir on the mighty Mt Stuart with my old Bellingham friends and long-time ski partners Ben Peterson and Tyree Johnson. Ulrich's comes right of the summit and descends the south flank of Mt Stuart for 4400 ft. Photo: Jason Hummell. Go buy this photo (LINK). From Jason and put it in your living room to inspire yourself to go ski! Ice Cliff Glacier (LINK).

Salida del Sol: January 2012
http://solclimbs.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 29, 2012. Dream Run on Lichtenberg. Not one single backcountry enthusiast has driven by the rolling flanks of Mt. Lichtenberg (just east of Stevens Pass on Hwy 2) without dreaming of shredding off the summit and down the long south face. Being south facing, open, and avalanche-prone, conditions rarely agree to make this line both quality and safe. With a predicted warming episode to occur mid-day I set the alarm for 5:07 to see if we could make our dream come true. Brian on the upslope.

Salida del Sol: The SUPERCAVE
http://solclimbs.blogspot.com/2012/09/the-supercave.html
Wednesday, September 26, 2012. Super-local Jon Pobst is moving to France soon. It's been great climbing with Jon and watching his climbing progress over the past year, it seemed only fitting to make it in the hills together before Jon becomes a neon-clad, stitched knee pad, cig-smoking Euro. Let's go rock climbing! Route was established in 2009 after 8 attempts by Spokane locals elaw and leearden (cascadeclimbers.com aliases). Boy did they score! Still psyched, approach #2 for the day. As you near the ba...

Salida del Sol: February 2012
http://solclimbs.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 1, 2012. Pencil Chute, Fleur de Lis, and The Slopes Beyond. Ryan Murray dropping into The Pencil. Hemming and hawwing the night before, Ryan and I endlessly debated the what-ifs, in's, out's, pro's and con's, of a variety of lines, before finally deciding on a lift-accessed backcountry tour of the backside of Stevens Pass. Ryan had been scoping a tight chute near the end of the Rooster Comb formation and Google Earth gave us enough optimism that the line would go. Visibility remined l...

Salida del Sol: May 2011
http://solclimbs.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 25, 2011. Sorry it's been so long folks. While i've done lots of different climbing since I last posted, most recently, Jens Holsten and myself made a Sunday run up Hyperspace on Snow Creek Wall. Hyperspace is a 7-8 pitch 11a that takes the burliest line up SCW. Years ago I had climbed the route with good friend Tyree, surprisngly, Jens had never been up the route and was eager to give it a burn. A cool and cloudy Sunday found us with the wall all to ourselves. Well, it's been obliterated:.

Salida del Sol: February 2011
http://solclimbs.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 28, 2011. With over a foot of fresh snow in Leavenworth its hard to believe that we were climbing dry sunny rock just 8 days ago. Jens warming up on Tubbing in Der Ritterhof (11a) at Rattlesnake Rock:. Kyle on the cliff classic, Rock and Rattle (11c):. 3 perspectives on The Rib, a classic V4 at the Carnival Boulders. For now we kill pow, but I gotta say that dry granite sure felt good. Thursday, February 17, 2011. Coach, the man, the myth, the legend. Recently, a scholarship writing bing...

Salida del Sol: Full Circle on the North Face of Mt. Maude - A Splitboard Descent
http://solclimbs.blogspot.com/2014/04/full-circle-on-north-face-of-mt-maude.html
Saturday, April 19, 2014. Full Circle on the North Face of Mt. Maude - A Splitboard Descent. 231 miles later we parked our rigs at the Phelps Creek TH and took off skinning up the river valley. The trails stays relatively flat for the first 3.5 miles until you abruptly turn right and head up toward Leroy Basin on the Leroy Creek trail. We skinned as long as we could before the steep and hard early morning snow forced us to bootpack. Ski lines for days. As alpine pow gave way to breakable crust, we traver...
