Liebster Award – part 1 of 4 | Somewhere Boy
https://somewhereboy.wordpress.com/2013/12/06/liebster-award-part-1-of-4
Laquo; A poem of remembrance. Liebster Award – part 2 of 4. Liebster Award – part 1 of 4. You are reading a Liebster Award-winning blog. I’ll just pause to let that sink in. What I am now obliged to do is:. A) to tell you 11 things about myself. B) to answer to the best of my ability the 11 questions that have been asked of me. Percy Pig, House Painter. I recall, turned out to be less interesting when divested of its illustrations). I also devised stories of my own. I rewrote Jean de Brunhoff’s. With an ...

Laquo; Thinking about transgender. The Novel Habits of Happiness. The latest of Alexander McCall Smith’s Isabel Dalhousie series. In an early chapter, Isabel reads Jean de Brunhoff’s. To her infant son Charlie, and contemplates leaving out the bit about Babar’s mother being shot by a hunter. She then (typically) gets distracted and starts thinking about Hitler while Charlie waits for the story to continue. THE STORY OF BABAR THE LITTLE ELEPHANT. In the great forest a little elephant was born. His nam...
I remember 2 | Somewhere Boy
https://somewhereboy.wordpress.com/2015/08/08/i-remember-2
Laquo; Babar: a retelling. I remember going to a children’s concert at Jackdaws in Great Elm and the programme giving the name of one piece as ‘Vaginia Reel’. I remember the happiness of going to National Trust properties and, against the odds, not being bored, perhaps because of the shop or the tea room. I remember feeling inhibited about waving my arms when we sang hateful evangelical songs in school like ‘We are climbing Jesus’ ladder’. I remember feeling embarrassed by my unbroken singing voice.

The Scribbling Post: Formal Uncials
http://thescribblingpost.blogspot.com/2014/02/formal-uncials.html
Sunday, 2 February 2014. Another half an hour to myself whilst the little one is napping, so I picked up my pilot pens and had a go at formal uncials. This was done with a 2.4mm nib, purple ink and a 4 nib-width x-height. I used for my reference a section from Gillian Hazeldine's. This is not a script I am at all used to working with, but there's so much you can do with it, with a little bit of creativity. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Monday, 6 February 2012. I have been terribly remiss about posting the last few weeks; not because I haven't got anything to show for myself - in fact I've been doing lots of lettering - I'm just lacking the time to take some pretty pictures and post properly! 15 minutes of fame. August 20, 2010 @ 4:28 pm. 183; { Cambridge 23 Things. Tags: Alain de Botton. Axis of Evil comedy. Podcasting. I have to admit I got a bit stuck on this one – I decided to leave it until ‘after I’d returned from holiday’ and since then I’ve been procrastinating and putting off doing my homework (never do today that which can be left until tomorrow – that’s my motto! Now and again (I would particularly recommend Maz Jobrani’s Did you hear the one about the Iranian-American? JISC has so...

Wikis and light at the end of the tunnel. August 23, 2010 @ 5:00 pm. 183; { Cambridge 23 Things. Before this Thing I had absolutely no experience of Wikis. Whatsoever. I’d heard of them, but I’m not sure I could have given a succinct definition of what one was. Happily, this situation has now been rectified and they appear on first investigation to be very useful things. As many of the Cam23. I’ve got one particular project on the go at the moment where several members of staff are working on vario...
Demon Cook: September 2013
http://demon-cook.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Random thoughts about cooking, food and eating. Monday, 2 September 2013. HELL'S KITCHEN "NO KNEAD" BREAD. The recipe/method was developed by Jim Lahey of Sullivan Street Bakery in the Hell's Kitchen district of New York City . The resulting loaf could easily pass for any "artisanal" or "hand-crafted" loaf you might find in Waitrose, Gail's, the Whole Food Market or indeed French über-bakery Poilane. And the flavour? This recipe comes from the Sullivan Street Bakery website. 3 cups (430g) flour. Preheat ...
Demon Cook: December 2013
http://demon-cook.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Random thoughts about cooking, food and eating. Tuesday, 24 December 2013. THE EASIEST CHOCOLATE and SALTED CARAMEL TART. I've just made this as an alternative to Christmas Pudding (which I don't like). It is stupidly easy to make, yet looks very impressive and professional, and can be prettied up with a dusting of edible gold shimmer for a really festive touch. The chocolate element is from The Best Chocolate Tart. 1 ready made sweet pastry case (such as this one. Labels: alternative Christmas Pudding.
Demon Cook: BIRTHDAY LUNCH for 8
http://demon-cook.blogspot.com/2014/05/birthay-lunch-for-8.html
Random thoughts about cooking, food and eating. Friday, 9 May 2014. BIRTHDAY LUNCH for 8. Fifty is significant, no getting around that. It's a Big One, the half-century, the golden one. To party or not to party, that is the question? Here is the menu for Sunday lunch:. Tapas and antipasti (chorizo, Serrano ham, Pissaladiere, Dukka and olive oil, homemade focaccia). Chicken 'Marbella' with spinach, feta and pine nut salad, and new potatoes. Banana Tarte Tatin, Amaretti Ice Cream, Lemon Polenta Cake. There...

Somewhere Bright and New. Sail away, kill off the hours. Sunday, March 15, 2015. I stepped on the scale today and I'm officially .5 pounds LESS than my pre-pregnancy weight! It took a little over 2 months, thanks to Arbonne's 28 Day Detox and what it taught me. My half marathon is next Sunday! I'm so excited. After that, I'm going to refocus on weight training with heavy weight. What everyone says about your body not looking the same after a baby is SO true. Where in the world did my butt go? You started...
