It is a purpose-built full FADEC engine developed in Belgium and capable of developing approx. 97 HP at 3300 RPM and 8:1 standard compression. The fiberglass tip is actually snug against the leading edge of the vertical stablizer skin without any gap, but the skin on the other side is open making it look like there's a gap. Stephan's Sonex #1627 Builder's Log. I completed the rudder today. This involved deburring the edges and the #30 holes of the ribs as well as skins, and of course, cleaning and priming the parts. The skins were primed where it comes into contact with the ribs. I riveted the long side of the rudder, so it would still be easy to open up the skins for the pre-cover inspection. This is required for Canadian amateur built aircraft (click here. Ribs deburred, sanded and cleaned with alcohol and then primed.

This appears a solid engine overall and it often a choice by Sonex builders who want the additional power. However, I have reviewed a number of Sonex build logs and have come up with the following observations:. High CHT temperatures, even after break in. Stephan's Sonex #1627 Builder's Log. I settled on the LT3759. This is an MSOP package chip and available in the industrial temperature range (-40°C to 125°C). This is important, as I may decide to have the MCU firewall-forward, as it will be easier to connect the thermocouples and other sensors this way.
