http://www.bakeorbreak.com/recipes/2009/02/18/pecan-and-salted-caramel-cheesecake
Cobblers, crisps, & crumbles. Pies & tarts. February 18, 2009. Pecan and Salted Caramel Cheesecake. Recently, I read somewhere that 2008 was a big year for salted caramel. I don’t think I’m in any position to agree or disagree with that, but I will say that I had a little love affair with it myself. (Hello, salted caramel hot chocolate! On its own, there is nothing exceptional about the cheesecake. The difference is the caramel. The salt portion is sprinkled on top, so you can use as little or as...To ma...

Going Oregonic: Race Report: Race for the Cure 5k
http://goingoregonic.blogspot.com/2009/09/race-report-race-for-cure-5k.html
A young couple moves from Nashville, Tennessee to Portland, Oregon. These are their adventures. Monday, September 21, 2009. Race Report: Race for the Cure 5k. I ran my first race. I ran the whole time, and I finished (and I wasn't last, either)! My final time was 33:19, which isn't great (everyone I know finished before me), but it's right on pace with what I've been running, so I think that's good. I didn't go. Slower than normal, and I'm feeling like that's a good thing. My best friend Amy. As I crosse...

Tuesday, December 1, 2009. A Couple Quick Thoughts. So, as I sit her thinking about how many Thanksgiving calories I can burn by simply. About burning Thanksgiving calories my mind finds itself deviating to a couple other things. The Super Bowl of Shopping Day's for women. I swear I heard my cousin Ellen and Lady Cheek harkening back to the glory days of Black Fridays of the past. Oh, that will never top the great sale of '94! You girls don't know the half of it! Those were the good ol' days.". Athletes ...

Cheek's Blog: July 2008
http://ericcheek.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 22, 2008. Should your team (or my team for that matter) even consider bringing Barry Bonds in before the deadline? The short answer is…yes. You might be saying to yourself, “Self, why should my team subject itself and its good reputation to the acquisition of a steroid freak who has an ego bigger than Kirstie Allie after an all-nighter at the Ryan’s mega bar? From a purely offensive standpoint, I think that he adds almost a run per game to your scoreboard. As for his play in left field&...

Cheek's Blog: June 2009
http://ericcheek.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 29, 2009. So, I was stuck somewhere in between a Braves rain delay and the NBA Finals. While I do enjoy the occasional hoops matchup, I just didn't find Magic-Lakers to be all that intriguing. Despite all the talk about how this was a huge series for Phil and Kobe, I just couldn't get into it. I just couldn't get excited. That all being said, because it was basketball's world championship.I'll took the Lakers in five.they ended up nailling things down in six. 30 Rock = Manny Ramirez. They mi...

Cheek's Blog: A Maddening March
http://ericcheek.blogspot.com/2010/03/so-it-was-perfect-storm.html
Tuesday, March 23, 2010. So, it was the perfect storm. St Patrick's Day followed by the craziest four days in all of sports (the first and second rounds of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament). Well, in order to cheer me up and further my celebration of the patron saint of Ireland, I offer you a little music from a band that I have been listening to quite a bit lately. They're from, as David Letterman, my boy, puts it, "From Ireland, ladies and gentleman. From Ireland! Blue Lights On the Runway.

Cheek's Blog: Quick Thoughts: What I Learned On Break
http://ericcheek.blogspot.com/2010/01/what-i-learned-on-break.html
Friday, January 15, 2010. Quick Thoughts: What I Learned On Break. So, while I recovered from work and school during late December and the first half of January, I learned three important things. 1) College football’s bowl system is completely out of whack. 2) Tyler Hansbrough is a jerk. 3) Tennessee’s football program is in trouble. It’s what took place before the BCS, and frankly – before January 1st, that bothered me. 8211; bowl games BEFORE New Years Day. That is absolutely ridiculous! No, Cheek....
