The South Uist Estate. Some of the finest wild brown trout, sea trout and salmon fishing is on the doorstep. The burns and lochs are not stocked and the lack of fish farms in the western watershed of the islands has kept the gene pool pure. Our hill lochs tend to have large populations of fish, albeit ‘monster’ fish are caught there from time to time, the best baskets of Brown Trout are caught in the machair lochs where the size of fish range from 1lb up to 5lbs. 5696; Brown trout.
