This year, as the calendar would have it, I experience Jon’s birthday and Mother’s Day just a few days apart. I drag him to doctor and dentist appointments and talk him into getting a haircut whenever he starts getting the caveman look. We’re caught in a weird time warp somewhere between unreasonable toddler, love-a...

A Place Called Special. A look inside a special life. The Christmas Tree’s Reunion. Tree’s almost wasn’t Christmas Reunion. My dear friend Thelma came to stay with us for a few nights. I celebrated another birthday last month. An odd thing about the years adding up, you realize how much you don’t know while also becoming wiser in the things you do know. Quite paradoxical, I’ve surmised. Lately I’ve been contemplating this one: “Is your glass half full or half empty? We were able to visit our son, D...

A Place Called Special. A look inside a special life. The Christmas Tree’s Reunion. Tree’s almost wasn’t Christmas Reunion. The Freedom Within My Walls. Jon was still awake and roaming the house when I went to bed late last night and the kitchen was a wreck this morning. He’d been in the pantry, cupboards and fridge, gathering food and dishes, setting them out on the island and table, opening jars, boxes and containers but not eating any of it. He was also dressed, with shoes on, ready to go somewhere.
