In Ten Words: What I Ate & Where. What I Ate & Where in MAINE. Eat Well. Travel Often. Barbara Gulino. In Ten Words: What I Ate & Where. What I Ate & Where in MAINE. Roasted Asparagus with Fig Vincotto. We came home last week and since then it’s been a whirlwind of laundry, unpacking, catching up with family and friends and a big ol’ bucket of mail. How wonderful it was to leave New England for three weeks with nothing budding and come back to flowering. Is a grape must condiment from Puglia, Italy that ...
Classic Maine Lobster Roll

In Ten Words: What I Ate & Where. What I Ate & Where in MAINE. Eat Well. Travel Often. Barbara Gulino. In Ten Words: What I Ate & Where. What I Ate & Where in MAINE. Classic Maine Lobster Roll. When I first moved to Maine many years ago, Brooklyn girl that I was, I thought a lobster roll was a Chinese egg roll made with lobster instead of shrimp. Clearly, I have come a long way in 29 years. Well, maybe just adding a small amount of finely chopped celery is okay (so says my former cooking student Marcia).

In Ten Words: What I Ate & Where. What I Ate & Where in MAINE. Eat Well. Travel Often. Barbara Gulino. In Ten Words: What I Ate & Where. What I Ate & Where in MAINE. Lemon Tahini Coconut Bites. When we left, it was cold enough to create a new vegan treat that would last in the car without melting for a few days before experiencing much warmer weather. Besides, I didn’t expect these to last past Virginia! And I was right, once my mostly vegan relatives tasted them, they were gone in no time. Are not requi...

I love to eat and I love to dine out. Friends, family and readers of this blog often ask me where to dine. And what to eat, so I decided to create this section and share my experiences as an enthusiastic diner instead of rewriting them several times a week in texts and emails! These are my opinions. I much p...

Lowcountry Shrimp Salad
http://www.annadishes.com/lowcountry-shrimp-salad
Laquo; Fluffernutter Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Buttercream. Lemon Bars for #BloggerCLUE. April 6th, 2015. I don’t know why or how, but until I lived in Charleston, SC I’d never experienced the delight of dining on Lowcountry Shrimp Salad. Honestly, I don’t think I’d even seen shrimp salad before. As a kid, growing up in New England, my first seafood choice was always anything lobster, so I guess the poor little shrimp dishes had a chance to make it on my menu. 2 lbs large, local, wild caught shrimp.
Pimento Cheese Spread

Make each meal memorable. Out & About. April 17, 2015. I love to travel to new locales and, what else? Enjoy the food that helps make the area famed. Pimento Cheese Spread is new to me, and I just wonder where it’s been all my life! This Southern classic is versatile, not to mention delicious. On Twitter. Yes, I inserted the shameless plug.). Has had my mouth watering and mind wondering. I couldn’t take it anymore, and since I haven’t yet scheduled a visit to either of the Carolinas, I had to try my hand...
Mixed Berry Mojito | Nutmeg Nanny
http://www.nutmegnanny.com/2015/04/02/mixed-berry-mojito
April 2, 2015. This mixed berry mojito combines delicious fresh raspberries, blackberries, mint and rum. It’s super delicious, perfect for spring and takes only 5 minutes to make! Poor Art. He has to listen to almost 2 hours of Fran Drescher. Honestly I love sappy movies like this. It was almost like watching The Nanny but with Timothy Dalton instead of Charles Shaughnessy. How can you not love that? To bad the weather won’t freaking warm up here in New York. It snowed yesterday. SNOWED! Not only does it...

Musings and Recipes From My Kitchen. Citrus Olive Oil Cake with Strawberries. June 17, 2015. I have been having trouble with this next post–as you may have noticed from my extended silence. It is kind of a bridge post, or an odds-n-ends post. It does not fit any good theme, but whatever I am just going to go for it! First, I understand better now where I live (which is a good thing since I have been here for nearly 4 weeks! It is high up, ancient and windy, with a fabulous cathedral. This pan, shown in t...

Friday, March 1, 2013. Time began biologically. Time keeping was established when our eyes saw the coming and going of the sun and as the moon waxed and waned, our skins sensed the changes in temperature as the sun rose and set and seasons came and went, our noses noticed the scent of freshness and then of decay, and with our ears we could hear the changes in the bird songs and the quiet of the night. It is all quite lovely and natural. Physically we seem to be bound by time. Blessings from the heart,.
