Baking Kate's: March 2008
http://bakingkates.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 31, 2008. In case you haven't noticed, I enjoy cupcakes. A lot. Imagine my delight and surprise, then, when I found out that it is Cupcake Week on the Martha show! Woot woot. Let's have a parade. Or not. All week long, Martha will be talking down to us as she shows us how to make her favorite cupcakes. Clearly, no matter how hard we try, our cupcakes will not be as perfect as hers, but we dare to dream, friends. Today, Martha had the ladies of Cupcakes Take the Cake. Links to this post.

Tuesday, May 13, 2008. So Saturday we had our final meal around our dining room table (which sadly will NOT fit in our new apartment). The gathering consisted of our gang and J's mother who came to help us pack and clean (and she's the reason why we can move cross country without killing each other). It was a fitting end and closed the circle for the time we spent at the Cheverly house. Thank Heaven and her boyfriend. Brought Bob's famous rolls with BBQ from Red Hot and Blue to go inside. Brought sorbet ...

For those Wrinkle in Time Fans, I'm going to pull a Mrs. Who for this entry – using the words of others to capture my feelings. Something has changed within me. Something is not the same. Too late for second-guessing. Too late to go back to sleep. It's time to trust my instincts. Close my eyes and leap. It started as just an idea. Nothing firm. N...But t...

Friday, February 29, 2008. Chinese New Year: Hollywood East Cafe on the Boulevard. In a totally spur of the moment thing, our friend Pauline proposed getting together for a Chinese New Year's activity. This is the year of the rat, the year that Pauline, J and I were born. Hopefully that means something lucky will happen this year. Actually the meal in itself was lucky. A perfect Lunar New Year banquet with lion dancers, food, and red envelopes. Rootbeer gave a gift card from Whole Foods and Pauline gave ...

Sunday, November 25, 2007. I realize that i really don't have a Thanksgiving routine. Sometimes I fly out to California to spend time with family. Sometimes I stay in DC and J and I host. This year, J was visiting a friend in Asheville and I was lucky enough to be invited to Scotte's. What did we eat? Take a look here. They were a well-oiled machine! Contrary to what Scott thinks, he did carve the turkey expertly. Thanks to the two of you for a delightful Thanksgiving. I am thankful for bloggers! Thanks ...

Wednesday, July 02, 2008. So we're still working on the website for the food blog because hey it's the Bay Area and there are a zillion food blogs. But I am now indulging my obsession with weddings and started a wedding blog. This is a place to talk about funny wedding stories, give tips on how to put together a wedding, and share pretty pictures of pretty people. Come on over to The Blessed Freaking Day. Sorry for the radio silence, but you know, we did move across the country. Posted by DC Food Blog.

Thursday, May 01, 2008. A Lil' Bay Area review - Maritime East. So isn't weird when you and your siblings grow up enough so you're not just siblings but also friends? Stef, considering your brother is like super cool and you seem to get along, when did that happen for you? In Berkeley. What he didn't tell us was that he was friends with the owner. It was a really enjoyable evening where we got to talk with the owner about the restaurant business and catch up with my brother. I asked about the lack of veg...

Nothing compares to the simple pleasure’s of a bike ride. – J F Kennedy. The compass points west. April 9, 2012. The strongest rainbow i've ever laid my eyes on. A good look down into the Marlborough sounds, shortly after leaving Picton. Neil, Myself, Doug, Gotz. Neil decided to bike in with us to Nelson but not before taking a quick detour down to the beach. Once there the question was proposed, can we just follow the beachfront and link up with another road down the ways? After searching high and low a...

Spork or Foon?
August 30, 2012. If these dont want to make you nomnomnom all over the place, I dont know what will. . When I was making these, I kept singing Give me a break, give me a break, break me off a piece of that. DAMNIT as I realized I kept singing the Kit Kat song (another equally delicious candy bar made up of rainbows and unicorn tears). I wracked my brain to try to remember what song Twix had and then I remembered. Mmmmm BOW BOW. Chick, Chick-a Chick-a. Oh yea, the Ferris Bueller theme song. . A commenter ...

A Simple Summer Salad. In What I'm Cooking. On July 20, 2011. Peach and Tomato Salad (Image via myrecipes.com). White Bear Lake, MN 55110. 2) French Onion Soup: While this soup is one of my all-time favorites, ordering it can be hit-or-miss due to the myriad of varying recipes that exist. Rudy’s happens to serve one of the best this side of the Eiffel Tower. The brandy-infused broth adds a special kick, while the bread and melted provolone cheese is grounded in deep tradition. Although Rudy’s Red Eye Grill is one of the finer places to dine ...

Wednesday, July 17, 2013. I spy with my little eye. Posted by Nicole Andrijauskas. I went to join Dave at Sears Point last weekend to perform my womanly duties of cheering him on in the stands, blowing kisses and drinking beer. I also caught up on my Elizabeth Taylor article in Vanity Fair and took in the big Sonoma clouds of the valley amidst the crazy wind. It's loud there and I like it. Um, just in case you forget. Sporting my Canadian tuxedo til I die! And this is what Dave looks like. Chanting kids,...
