SPRINTARS は，大気中の浮遊粒子状物質 エアロゾル による地球規模の気候変動および大気汚染の状況をコンピュータにより再現 予測するために開発された数値モデル ソフトウェア です。 が中心となり開発しており，対流圏に存在する自然起源 人為起源の主要エアロゾル 黒色炭素 有機物 硫酸塩 土壌粒子 海塩粒子 を取り扱います。 これらは，いわゆるSPM, PM10, PM2.5としても分類されます。 SPRINTARSでは，エアロゾルの輸送過程 発生 移流 拡散 化学反応 湿性沈着 乾性沈着 重力落下 が計算されます。 また，エアロゾル 放射相互作用 エアロゾルによる太陽 地球放射の散乱 吸収 およびエアロゾル 雲相互作用 エアロゾルの雲に対する凝結核 氷晶核の機能 も計算に含まれます。 SPRINTARSは，気候変動に関する政府間パネル (IPCC) 第4次評価報告書 2007年 のエアロゾルによる気候への影響評価において，アジアから唯一貢献した国際的に認められたエアロゾルモデルです。
