Afterward, we ate lunch, had our siesta, then visited the Emim Sulaimam Minaret. which is the only Islamic ancient pagoda in China. She was supposedly a beautiful Uighur girl whose body naturally produced a sweet, captivating scent. According to John, the scent was actually really strong B.O. LOL. And according to Wiki, as I just found out:. Xiangfei was most likely a mythical character. If she was real, she's not buried in Kashgar. She's buried in Beijing.

After arriving in Kashgar, our guide, Abdul, picked us up from the very small airport and took us to the Qinibagh Hotel. We had clearly communicated to our agent at Uighur Tour. That we wanted clean and safe accommodations, which he said was equivalent to a three-star. Strike one for this first hotel. One of my favorite Uighur foods: chuchura!

Wednesday, January 19, 2011. You'd be forgiven for thinking this dish might contain young pigeons, otherwise known as squabs, but this pie has always been made with lamb. If you can buy it locally in the Cotswolds the flavour will be delicious set off by the sharp apple and spices. 225 g (8 oz) plain flour salt and pepper. 50 g (2 oz) butter. 50 g (2 oz) lard. 700 g (1 1/2 lb) lamb neck fillets, sliced into 12 pieces. 1 large cooking apple, peeled, cored and sliced. 125 ml (1/4 tsp) ground allspice.
