http://thegoldenyolk.blogspot.com/2010/01/smores-brownies.html
Friday, January 22, 2010. I made my own vanilla extract! And am planning on making another batch with bourbon. The only thing I would change next time is add more graham crackers. They rose so much the cracker bits were a bit too sparse. I definitely cannot complain about the crisp and melty marshmallows on top though. 1 1/2 cups white whole wheat flour (you can also use all-purpose). 2 tsp baking powder. 1 cup unsalted butter, melted. 6 oz unsweetened chocolate. 1 1/4 cups dark brown sugar. Id never rea...

The Golden Yolk: June 2012
http://thegoldenyolk.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 12, 2012. The Easiest Chocolate Cake. It has been almost one year since I posted in this blog. What have I been up to? Mostly running back and forth between two jobs, while somehow finding the time to successfully complete two semesters of graduate school. Things are less busy now. I just have two jobs, an internship, and two online summer classes. Okay, so maybe not really less busy. But I'm here anyway. Because this is the easiest chocolate cake to make. Ever. The Easiest Chocolate Cake.

The Golden Yolk: January 2011
http://thegoldenyolk.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 23, 2011. Double Chocolate Chip Cookies. This is an awful photo. Oops.). This past July I met up with some friends for some intimate shows put on by one of our favorite bands, two in New Jersey and two in Vienna, VA. In between the two New Jersey shows, my friend Laura and I headed into NYC. Laura is gluten-free and vegan, so naturally one of our stops was at Babycakes. A vegan, mostly gluten-free bakery. Yesterday I picked up the Babycakes cookbook. Double Chocolate Chip Cookies. Combine...

New Haven Resident: January 2010
http://newhavenresident.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Friday, January 29, 2010. Link All About It! There's lots of stuff I'd like to blog about, but, well. I have not enough time for it. So if you are dying to read things I've written or are thinking about in the world of medical or New Haven residency, here are some links:. My performance evaluations so far agree that I'm always working on improving my own medical case presentations, so I guess I'm an expert worth asking how you should present cases on rounds. Advocacy group because of the excellent ideas.

Fat for Winter: May 2011
http://fatforwinter.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Hot, Hot, Hot. The weather is getting really hot and sticky here, and by that I mean that it's getting inappropriate and taking off all its clothes. Time to break out the ice cream maker and the spicy peppers. Demanded that we make ice cream with his stash of extra- spicy habañeros, I grabbed David Lebovitz's excellent cookbook. And did a quick google search. We were wrong. This ice cream went above and beyond tasty. The only think I would change is the quantities. More of everything. The only problem is...

Fat for Winter: Crunchy Granola People
http://fatforwinter.blogspot.com/2012/03/crunchy-granola-people.html
For a savory, crunchy granola went around my little corner of the internet a while back. I'm not a big fan of granola's chewy, sweet, stickiness, but I like all of its components, and this recipe was billed for non-granola lovers. And we've had all this oatmeal lying around ever since my dad passed away. And we were about to go to the Anza-Borrego Desert, so I cut some of the sugar, added hazelnuts for my hermanita and dried cranberries for my mum, and off we went. And we had a wonderful, beautiful time.
