Site 4: Deakin University Extension Geelong. The stanchion is coated with a special white fire resistant enamel/paint. To further increase the stability. This image shows temporary props fixed to a concrete column. I thought this was an interesting image, as it appears that a pad footing is embedded into the walling/brickwork. 2A - 2008 - Angela Saliba.

The Trade school facility at Box Hill Tafe was completed in 2007. Paul Morgan Architects designed it. The construction of the frame can be seen easily. The building is unusual in several ways. The roof cladding is used on the walls. The floor area has a section of sand which the trade students can use for practice. The building is very open and does not have walls on one end. Thursday, June 5, 2008. Building rammed earth walls. Wednesday, June 4, 2008. Safety rails are evident. Monday, May 5, 2008. Alumi...

Monday, 4 June 2007. Here are some images taken from my final poster. My architect was Zaha Hadid. I decided to study tilt-up concrete panel construction as I know Zaha loves concrete, and I've always been amazed the way they make tilt-up panels on site and them lift them within days. Strip footing with steel rod reinforcement and deformed bars to support the load bearing (non-column) beams. Slab also poured with reinforcement, and makes for the 'work site' of the tilt-up panel making process. Here are s...

Tuesday, June 3, 2008. This is my final presentation for my major project, I'm really happy with how the model turned out, it was a lot of work, but i learnt a lot about paper tubing in construction and also unconventional construction methods, such as the roofing membrane. However, despite the recent emphasis on blast-resistant wall systems and hardening of the building enclosure (see the Blast Resistance. Monday, June 2, 2008. Posted 5 years ago. See our truss breaking! Posted 5 years ago. We have choosen to compare our truss to the trusses that were designed by group 29 and 34. With a break at 22 000 kPa our truss was the third strongest! The truss didn’t break as we thought it would. (See the sketch in the previous post). Under pressure the plywood wants to buckle, the nails are suppose to take up the shear and prevent the plywood to buckle out which will cause a break of the truss. If the nails would have been placed cl...
