April 10, 2017. Marigold is available for charter from Maldon throughout the year (Weather permitting). Charters are either for the day (10-12 hours) or short sails on the tide (3-4 hours). On Marigold the spacious decks, spreading canvas and ease of handling make her an ideal platform to potter about on the river. Maybe catch a seal sleeping off Maylandsea Spit, a porpoise jumping off the Nass, hear the curlews plaintive cry at dusk, watch the bow wave curl and shatter on the hull. August 29, 2016. Marigold was built at Walter Cook and son, Maldon, in 1981. She is a Gravesend Bawley built upon the lines of the Lillian, built 1869. Gravesend Bawleys were built to work the lower reaches of the Thames, trawling for shrimps with a trim tram trawl. Larger versions such as the Lillian would occasionally stowboat for sprats in the winter. Length 30 feet plus 14 foot bowsprit. Draft 4 feet 6 inches. More photos of Marigold….
