Today, we had our first opportunity to write expository text, after we examined a flower from our school garden with our five senses. My writers blew me away with how quickly the picked up the skill of writing to teach their reader, including sensory details. And observing as scientists! Friday, September 30, 2011. We ended our penguin unit by turning our classroom into Antarctica and acting out penguin life as penguin families! We had made penguin puppets a couple days before to reinforce the physical characteristics of penguins, and why they need each of their body parts.
