Please make sure that any item you want to pass on to us is as clean and unblemished as you would expect to use yourself. We serve soup every day in our kitchen so this is always welcome, either tinned or packet. Gravy granules, herbs and tubes of tomato puree or garlic and vegetable stock cubes are useful for our home cooked food. We always need instant coffee. Jams and marmalade and any other spreads such as peanut butter are again a daily necessity and would be very welcome. Men's briefs - brand new.

A morning in the life of the Day Centre. At 930 we open the doors and start serving hot tea and coffee and a variety of cereals. Many of our clients have been outside all night or in cold accommodation so we soon have plenty of people in the Centre. We only recently started serving cereals and they have proved extremely popular. However, we do need to buy around 20 pints of milk each day, though some is donated by Sainsbury's. In the early 1980s there was a change in government policy and along with similar institutions, the children's home was closed. The sisters looked for a new direction and discerned that there was little or no provision for the many homeless people on the streets of Brighton and Hove and in so 1983 they founded St Anne’s Day Centre.
