It's been two months since my last post - Miss Philomena. Resolved to take fate by the throat and shake a living out of her. 02 May 2014 @ 05:01 pm. It's been two months since my last post. The symposium in Williamsburg was lots of fun. I met some new friends, failed to get any new pictures of my piemontaisse, and started making a calash bonnet. And its out of the prettiest cross-barred silk, too. I need to remember to take pictures of it. I did something sort of 18th century related? There are going to ...

Diary of a Costumer. Aug 11th, 2015. I dont think I posted what all of my sewing plans are, now that CoCo drove a bunch of ideas into my head. So Im going to put them here, because I swear I keep forgetting some of them! 1890s Plaid Walking Ensemble. Organdy and horsehair are on their way to me to help with sleeves; blouse fabric still to be purchased. Skirt done, bodice started. Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. I think I have Rapunzel fabrics. I should probably check. Navy blue swiss dot Regency. Commission-wi...

I'm already sewing! - Diary of a Costumer
http://theladyrebecca.livejournal.com/147365.html
Diary of a Costumer. Aug 9th, 2015 at 1:13 AM. I finished the chemisette on the bus home on Friday, like I thought I would. Heres a pic:. I also started work on my 1890s skirt on Friday night, by cutting out the pattern pieces and the actual skirt pieces, using the Butterick walking skirt pattern on the plaid heavy cotton I found at the Bargain Basement. Today, I finished up the skirt completely, including the hem. 5 comments Leave a comment. Aug 9th, 2015 02:32 pm (UTC). Aug 9th, 2015 04:47 pm (UTC).

Edwardian Swimsuit - Dress Diaries
http://dressdiaries.livejournal.com/584974.html
One stitch at a time! I re-read the definition of this group and saw that it is for works in progress too! Silly me, I've been waiting for completed works to post. So here is my current project for your enjoyment :). My inspiration is this fabulous Edwardian (1910-1919) swimsuit in the Kent State Museum:. First up; my pattern pieces I drafted:. I also altered my pocket-belt thingy a little and cut it out! I also cut out bloomers last night :) They're huge, but I want poofy gathered bloomers so hopefully ...

Cranach Dress - Complete - Dress Diaries
http://dressdiaries.livejournal.com/584000.html
One stitch at a time! Cranach Dress - Complete. I've been working on an early 16th century southern German (Saxony) noblewoman's dress for about three years and finally, FINALLY, finished it so ta da! You can see the full Flickr album of way too many photos: here. R-you-call-it as a separate piece and had a rectangle of linen on my back it was tied to (it seemed to just fit better that way; just tied it tended to bunch up and pins were annoying me. Is this correct? I love how the feathers look on the hat.

This trim is tricky! - Rejoicing with the Truth
http://nuranar.livejournal.com/359881.html
Rejoicing with the Truth. Reader, singer, seamstress, saint. This trim is tricky! May 27th, 2015 at 7:07 PM. I'm looking for other examples for ideas/clarification. Here' some of what I've found. Gown trim looks padded. Petticoat trim looks bunched; probably not padded. Not box pleated. Not positive what's going on here. Maybe a zigzag row of ruching, which is then bunched into loose box pleats? Nicole did zigzag ruching on her polonaise. Just for interest - honeycomb smocking. Or what looks like it to me.

Srs bsns here - Miss Philomena. Resolved to take fate by the throat and shake a living out of her. 23 January 2015 @ 06:23 pm. I have a business-related question Id like to put forth to you all. When using patterns, would you rather keep the costs low and potentially have to tape larger pieces together for yourself, or would you prefer larger pieces to be on a single sheet of paper, even if it means a significant price increase for the pattern? 3 comments Leave a comment. Do you print to order? I persona...
