Everyone knows someone on the lifeboat and we all wait to hear that the boat is safely home. 1869 - The first lifeboat, Augusta, given by the Earl of Dartmouth. 1910 - The Gem went to a rescue but sadly 3 lifeboat men drowned. 1911 - Current boathouse and slipway built for the arrival of the station's first motor lifeboat.
